Twelve Tower Tensor Press Sold To NR1 Adressa-Trykk Orkanger

Press release from the issuing company

WOODRIDGE, IL (May 21, 2008) - Tensor Group, Inc., a premier U.S. manufacturer of web offset press equipment, is pleased to announce the sale of a 48 unit, 2 folder single-wide press to NR1 Adressa-Trykk Orkanger in Norway. Installation will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

The 12-tower Tensor T-400 press will proudly occupy a prominent position within Adressa-Trykk's extraordinary new facility in Orkanger. The showcase building, the like of which does not yet exist in Norway, was constructed specifically to house the massive Tensor press and state-of-the-art, ultra-modern newspaper and commercial production departments.

NR1 Adressa-Trykk is a newly formed cooperation between Adressa-Trykk AS (Adresseavisen) and NR1 Trykk (A-Pressen), both distinguished and notable names in the Norwegian printing and newspaper industries. Adressa-Trykk's new Tensor T-400 press at Norway's centrally located Orkanger facility will produce over 20 different newspaper titles and a vast number of coldset commercial products for distribution throughout mid-Norway. Newspaper circulations run between 3,000 and 20,000.

The fully-loaded, highly automated footprint shaftless press is anchored by two Tensor H-50 HD folders, each of which is capable of handling 12 webs with the help of independently driven RTF's. Shaftless commercial quarter folders accompany each folder. The primary folder is equipped with an upper former for sectioned tabloid newspaper production. Each of the three steep angle formers on the press has motorized tabloid slitters and shaftless stitchers for both newspaper and commercial products. A gluing system is to be installed on the main folder.

This pressline configuration allows for printing 96 tabloid pages of four color at 35,000 iph and 64 pages at 40,000 iph. The DCOS production management system logs the performance, maintenance and production data of each product run and assists in scheduling the constantly varying jobs.

The T-400 print units are equipped with a full helical gear train and class 13 gears on the main cylinder, both of which virtually eliminate dot distortion. The units sport spray dampeners, motorized ink fountain rollers, and an EPG remote inking with pre-setting for convenient, precise ink management. The Technotrans pumped ink supply system and ink levelers keep the ink flowing with minimal disruption of print runs. Press maintenance time is reduced dramatically with a PDM TwinTurboWeb Cleaning System and a vacuum dust collection system.

The press also is well-equipped with DCOS color-to-color and cutoff controls for all twelve webs. These register guidance controls, along with the majority of the main auxiliary systems, are controlled from the four press control consoles.

Tensor shaftless infeeds control the webs fed from the twelve automatic flying pasters situated at right angles to the pressline. The turnbars are located under the 4-high towers.

Oddvar Ustad, managing director of NR1 Adressa-Trykk, stated, "We decided to choose Tensor equipment because of Tensor's winning positions on price and user quality. NR1 Trykk at Tromso and Avisa Nordland in Bodo, Norway, have enjoyed tremendous success both with their Tensor presses and in relations with Tensor personnel through all phases from production through press acceptance." Mike Pavone, international sales manager for Tensor adds, "The Tromso press originally was comprised of 23 printing units, but NR1 Trykk expanded the press in '05 and '07 to its current total of 33 units (eight towers and one mono unit) which exponentially increased NR1 Trykk's product offering. The Avisa Nordland press in Bodo is a 26 unit (6 towers and two mono units) press."

Don Gustafson, president of Tensor, reports "The press we're producing now for NR1 Adressa-Trykk Orkanger is probably one of the most highly automated and user friendly presses Tensor has sold. We expect the benefits from the advanced technologies utilized here will result in amazing cost- and quality-efficiencies for the customer."
