Data Recognition Corporation Nominated for Document Automation Award

Press release from the issuing company

VENTURA, CA –  May 20, 2008 – Elixir Technologies Corporation, a leading developer of software for creating and managing high-value documents of all types, today announced the nomination of their customer Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) for the TAWPI 2008 Innovation Award for Document Automation.

The TAWPI Innovation Award recognizes organizations that implement unique strategies to overcome challenges in document and forms automation or payments. DRC’s nomination for the award is based on their implementation of the Elixir Correspondence System as a solution to automate the document workflow for editing, proofing, approval, and release to production.

DRC selected the Elixir Correspondence System for their customer, a company specializing in fund-raising for non-profit organizations. The company wanted to improve fund raising results, a process beginning with a telemarketing call resulting in a follow-up letter confirming the phone call. Their objective for improving the process was to shorten the time between the phone call and receipt of the letter and to customize each letter with information relevant to the recipient.

Telemarketers called for donations and pledges in the evening and the follow-up process started the next morning. The telemarketing call could result in one of 14 different follow-up letters. This, combined with the potential of multiple proofs of each letter, often resulted in a lengthy proofing cycle and had potential for releasing incorrect proofs into production.

DRC’s implementation of the Elixir Correspondence System improved the workflow in the following ways:

-    Provided a web-based editing tool where customers could make modifications to the letters directly.

In many companies IT is a required part of the editing process, adding another step between the phone call and the follow-up letter ---- a step that can add days to the turnaround cycle. Now, letters are posted within 24 hours of DRC’s receipt of the approved proof --- a process DRC automated allowing production to begin as soon as the data is placed onto their server.

-    Supplied an organized method for proof/approvals ensuring only the final approved proofs were sent to production. The Elixir Correspondence System automatically tracks proofs throughout the process, allowing the customer to manage the process efficiently and safeguards against an incorrect proof getting into production.

-    Enabled custom messaging and controlled content on a per-letter/per-recipient basis. Resulting benefits here were the ability to include timely relevant content for each recipient. For example, if the recipient was interested in the environment and their candidate had commented on the subject as recently as the night before, this text could be included in their letter. On the other hand, certain sections of the letter where not open to editing, such as the company’s logo and other marketing and branding content.

The TAWPI Innovation Awards will be presented at the TAWPI 2008 Forum & Expo in Orlando, Florida this August. A $2500 honorarium will be paid to the charity of each winner's choosing. www.tawpi.org
