UN Rep to Address WPA Global Climate Change Summit

Press release from the issuing company

Woodstock, Illinois -- Hélène-Marie Gosselin, Director of UNESCO’s New York office and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Representative to the United Nations, will be making a address to the Waterless Printing Association’s (WPA) Global Climate Change Leadership Summit, to be held 26 to 28 February 2009 in Woodstock, IL, a far north suburb of Chicago. The summit will focus on the unique environmental and water saving advantages associated with the waterless offset printing process within the global printing community.

Ms. Gosselin and her associate will give a brief presentation on the UN’s water program in response to the world’s water crisis, which will be followed by a Q&A session.  She is expected to begin her remarks at 9:00 am on Friday, February 27.

Ms. Gosselin has been twice appointed by Secretary-General of the United Nations as Commissioner General of the United Nations Pavilion at the World Expositions in Lisbon, Portugal (1998) and Aichi, Japan (2005).

A Canadian national, she holds degrees from the Université de Montréal and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales of Montréal.  She began her professional career as a journalist and editor of business publications before joining the UN in 1979.

“We are thrilled to welcome the United Nations to our event,” says Arthur Lefebvre, WPA co-founder and executive director, “and to bond with a potential new partner in our struggle to conserve the earth’s fresh water resources.”

“Waterless printers utilize an earth-friendly printing technology that’s well suited to today’s environmental regulatory climate and will robustly meet whatever new regulations come along. Waterless printing technology puts them in a position of competitive strength, no matter what country they are operating in—a key issue for every business in today’s economy,” Lefebvre adds.

In the “New Environmental Developments in Waterless Printing” general forum at the Global Climate Change Leadership Summit, attendees will hear the latest news about UV waterless printing, water-washable inks, green tools for waterless printers and WPA’s global butterfly branding initiative.

In the follow-on session, “Learn How to Leverage Your Waterless Offset Assets,” a half dozen printers will deliver in-depth case studies describing their waterless printing successes, with a focus on the market appeal of earth-friendly printing techniques. The presenters in this session represent a diverse selection of countries, including Japan, Europe, Canada and the United States. The summit will conclude with the Printer Member Awards Ceremony, which honors technical and aesthetic achievement in commercial waterless printing.
