Ricoh Approves Pharos Integrated PMS

Press release from the issuing company

West Caldwell, NJ -- Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, today announced that the Pharos iMFP solution for Ricoh is now available upon passing the Ricoh Developer Program's (RiDP) compatibility testing. An integrated print management software offering for Ricoh multifunction products (MFPs), the Pharos iMFP for Ricoh provides businesses security, confidentiality, waste reduction and cost savings, while offering convenience to the end user. Organizations that manage heavy document workflows and sensitive information, such as healthcare companies, financial services firms and higher education institutions, will benefit greatly from this economical, secure solution.

Developers seeking to reduce their time to market have long enjoyed the many benefits of the Ricoh Developer Program. Capitalizing on Ricoh's open and advanced platform known as Embedded Software Architecture (ESA), Premier Plus level developers enjoy an abundance of Java based tools and support resources unparalleled in the industry. Beginning with devices manufactured in 2004, customers have experienced cost savings and productivity increases associated with Ricoh's embedded technology.

With the Pharos iMFP for Ricoh, organizations can control an individual's access to classified information and refuse to release prints if they are not an authorized party, ensuring customer privacy. Not only does the solution require users to log-in at the MFP by swiping an ID card or entering a username and password, but the Pharos Secure Release HereTM feature holds jobs until the user logs into the MFP and selects which documents in the queue to produce. Therefore, companies avoid accidental disclosure of sensitive information and, at the same time, reduce unnecessary document printing. The security features of the Pharos iMFP for Ricoh also help organizations do their part to meet several security regulation mandates, including HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley.

Located inside the MFP and powered by Pharos Blueprint Enterprise or Pharos Uniprint, users access the Pharos iMFP for Ricoh right on the MFP touch screen. This interface provides users a seamless transition to this solution for printing, coping, scanning, faxing or emailing documents through the device. To streamline print and copy accounting, the Pharos iMFP for Ricoh allows users to select a cost center when issuing print and copy jobs. Pharos Blueprint and Pharos Uniprint also track MFP usage and can create reports that give businesses insight into workflow volumes per department, device utilization rates, prints per employee and more. In turn, organizations can make more effective purchasing and IT decisions using this data to measure their precise needs. "Pharos's iMFP software offering is a great addition to the expanding lineup of solutions built on Ricoh's Embedded Software Architecture platform," said Mark Minshull, vice president and Chief Technologist, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "Our organizations share many large education and commercial customers who will now have the ability to reduce costs by utilizing Pharos's iMFP offering."

Pharos is a Premier Plus developer in the Ricoh Developer Program (RiDP) and Platinum Plus member of the Ricoh Independent Solutions Vendor Program.
