Kern Announces Redesigned K999s High Speed Cutting System

Press release from the issuing company

Grove City, Ohio, October 23, 2008 – Kern, producer of world-class end-to-end production mail solutions is pleased to announce today the introduction of the improved K999s in its first public showing in North America at the Graph Expo in Chicago, Il at McCormick’s Place, October 26th through the 29th.  “The K999s was designed for the North American market as a perfect solution for customers with higher page applications,” said Todd Russell, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Kern Inc.  The K999s uses a streamlined design that moves paper through a patented air-guided accumulation system at speeds of over 12 feet per second.  The K999s is a high speed cutting system that is capable of 88,000 cut sheets per hour from continuous form input rolls up to 54” in diameter.  Settings for the K999s system are accessible through an ergonomic touch screen.  The same touch screen controls the automatic threading and rewinding functions within the K999s.  Kern has taken innovative steps to deliver superior Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) with the K999s as well, enabling the system to be diagnosed and serviced remotely via the Internet.

The K999s can be coupled with the Kern Dual Channel VSK and Kern 3500 to achieve an unprecedented eight (8) pages per envelope at the K3500’s full rated speed of 22,000 mailpieces per hour.

Kern will be exhibiting in two booths, #1763 and #2063 in the mailing and fulfillment section of the exhibit hall, with the K999s in booth 1763.
