InfoPrint Unveils GraphExpo 2008 Lineup

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Press release from the issuing company

BOULDER, Colo. – October 22, 2008 – InfoPrint Solutions Company, a joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, today announced its lineup of market-leading solutions for the commercial print industry to be shown at GraphExpo 2008, the largest exhibition of its kind in the world, at its booth 2276.
InfoPrint will showcase its most comprehensive solutions portfolio to date including: Suite of TransPromo Solutions; Print On Demand (POD) technologies for high quality, high speed monochrome and color output to reduce book production costs and improve productivity; and Automated Document Factory (ADF), designed to solve the challenges of postal optimization and mailroom integrity.  InfoPrint technology partners including Press-Sense, Prinova and SAS will also demonstrate software and workflow offerings as part of this lineup.
These will run on the InfoPrint range of printers that includes the recently launched InfoPrint Pro C900. This color cutsheet platform, which will be available in early 2009, bridges the mid-range gap between production machines such as the full-color drop-on-demand InfoPrint 5000 and monochrome InfoPrint 4100, and the company's existing cutsheet portfolio. It also enables the creation of dynamic digital output which is ideal for in-plant and print-for-pay customers with monthly volumes of 50,000 to 240,000 pages. At GraphExpo, the high speed InfoPrint EMP156 and the flexible InfoPrint 2235 will complete the cutsheet offerings on display. Visitors to the booth can also view leading models from InfoPrint's line of workgroup printers.
"InfoPrint continues to strive to be the best teammate to our customers, helping them to run their overall operations smarter and at lower cost while reaching their own customers in a timely and relevant manner, and creating sustainable, cost-effective output," said Sandra Zoratti, Vice President, Global Marketing Manager at InfoPrint. "Our Meet the Experts program at GraphExpo will showcase this expertise. Our professional services team will be on hand to meet with customers to discuss innovative implementation techniques for customized campaigns and the key drivers of TransPromo in today's on-demand, budget-conscious environment."
Monochrome continuous forms – InfoPrint 75 and InfoPrint 100
At GraphExpo, InfoPrint will announce the availability of the InfoPrint 75 and InfoPrint 100 monochrome continuous forms digital output solutions.  First unveiled at drupa 2008, these printers offer additional depth to the recently upgraded InfoPrint continuous forms portfolio.  The InfoPrint 75 and InfoPrint 100 print at speeds of up to 115 pages per minute (ppm) and 154 ppm respectively.  These solutions are targeted to companies who print client invoices, direct marketing mailings, labels and distribution center picking slips.
InfoPrint 75 and InfoPrint 100 also support both PostScript and PCL data languages and prints high quality 600 dpi printing, providing clarity on text and graphics for such output as barcoded labels.
Ring and perfect binder for InfoPrint 2190, 2210, 2235 updates
InfoPrint will be displaying new finishing equipment to enhance its cutsheet solution lineup including the InfoPrint 2190, InfoPrint 2210 and InfoPrint 2235.  New binding features will allow customers to reduce internal costs by automating manual processes, maximize return on investment (ROI) by streamlining workflow solutions and grow their business by expanding their complex in-line finishing capabilities.
The InfoPrint Ring Binder offers automated functionalities throughout all steps of the finishing process including printing, collating, hole punching, inserting and closing the rings.  It has a maximum binding capacity of up to 100 sheets per booklet (200 duplex) and flexible support for 50- and 100-sheet ring sizes.  The InfoPrint Perfect Binder provides fully automated perfect binding capabilities with glue binding and up to three edge trimming.  It has a maximum capacity of up to 200 sheets per booklet (400 duplex) with the option of a cover inserter that supports up to 300 gsm paper.
Meet the Experts Professional Services and Consulting Program
At GraphExpo, InfoPrint will kick off its popular "Meet the Experts" forum series.  The Experts are members of InfoPrint's Professional Services and Consulting teams who will be on hand at the show to help both existing and potential customers find a way to implement innovative industry techniques.
The Forum at GraphExpo will focus on TransPromo and showcase InfoPrint's five-step approach to transitioning to this technique. This starts with an initial two-day workshop to clarify customers' existing environment, requirements and initial roadmap. Subsequent steps include assessment time, a pilot phase, and then transition of applications to a TransPromo solution, with the final stage being implementation of enterprise level TransPromo.

Zen Systems Becomes InfoPrint Solutions Partner
Peter Somu, Principal and CEO of Zen Systems, is the latest industry thought leader to become an InfoPrint Solutions Partner. This speaker and author's areas of expertise include ADF and other workflow solutions including InfoPrint ProcessDirector (IPPD) and solutions for the new Intelligent Mail barcode.  At GraphExpo, Peter will be demonstrating InfoPrint's IPPD and IMB solutions at the Zen Systems booth, #3095.
50th Anniversary of Production Printing
2009 will mark the 50th anniversary of InfoPrint's first production printer.  Launched in 1959, the IBM 1403 was four times faster than any other available machines and marked the beginning of the high speed and volume printing era. The 1403 led the market until the early 1970s when competitive solutions caught up with the technology.
Building on IBM's long-standing legacy in production printing, InfoPrint is continuing to pioneer the production and variable data printing markets.  Next year, InfoPrint will take the IBM 1403 on a world tour to highlight the evolution of digital printing and the outstanding features of the printer that have been adopted by many other printers today.   In fact, key technological elements of the IBM 1403 are embedded in the full-color, high quality InfoPrint 5000 printing platform which leads the market today.
On Monday, October 27th, InfoPrint and Ricoh will host a joint cocktail reception at its booth from 4:30 -6:00pm CDT for customers, partners, media and analysts.  For more information on this event, please contact Tracey Sheehy at tsheehy@breakawaycom.com.
