Press release from the issuing company

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. — Demand for variable data printing is at an all-time high, encompassing all types of formats. The Truepress Jet520 meets the needs of four-color process variable data printing with an advantageous combination of speed, quality and cost of operation. The Truepress Jet520 is a continuous-feed, single-pass inkjet printer that excels at producing catalogs, direct mail pieces, full-color account statements and other materials based on customer databases. At On Demand, printers will be able to see for themselves the impressive productivity of the Truepress Jet520. Screen (USA) will be printing live jobs on the Truepress Jet520 in booth #850. The full-color samples will feature personalized real estate and travel information, printed two-up on 18-inch wide paper rolls. The printed samples will be cut into 8.5 x 11-inch sheets and stacked utilizing a cut/stack solution from Lasermax Roll Systems. Dynamic content The Truepress Jet520 allows users to lay out documents, vary images and change colors to print personalized information, with the aid of front-end applications that are linked to customer databases. High-quality variable data printing also allows print buyers to customize advertisements to target the specific interests of recipients according to age or gender. The Truepress Jet520 can handle work that requires tens of thousands of pages in a limited span of time, such as detailed invoices. The roll-fed paper feeding system gives users the flexibility to accommodate high-speed and high-volume print runs. 209.9 feet per minute Available as a simplex or duplex model, the Truepress Jet520 consists of a printing unit and rewinder/unwinder unit. It features a printing width of 5.9 inches to 20 inches and paper width of 6.4 inches to 20.4 inches. The print speed is automatically adjusted depending upon how fast data is being processed. At 720 dpi x 360 dpi, the Truepress Jet520 prints at the rate of 209.9 feet per minute, the equivalent of 50,000 impressions per hour. The print speed is approximately 104.9 feet per minute at 720 dpi x 720 dpi. The controller uses Adobe's latest PostScript/PDF RIP core. Printing is controlled from a touch screen. The intuitive design of the interface helps operators avoid making errors that result in printing problems. The Truepress Jet520 employs water-based inks that resist degradation caused by exposure to water and light. They offer good drying properties on uncoated stock. The ability to achieve high quality on plain paper keeps running costs to a minimum. Multi-tone printing By using multi-tone printing, with a color depth of four tones per drop (2-bit imaging) for each color, the press delivers a level of print tone quality equal to that printed at twice the physical resolution. Screen and Seiko Epson Corp. collaborated to develop Piezo drop-on-demand print heads for the Truepress Jet520. The print heads are positioned so that the pitch between individual colors is very small. A built-in quality control scanner ensures consistent image reproduction. This makes it easy to adjust or clean print heads. Ink cartridges are easily replaced, helping to minimize the loss of printing time.
