Kodak Unites INSITE Storefront and EMS Business Software

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, NY, May 16 -- By creating connectivity between the KODAK INSITE Storefront System and KODAK EMS Business Software, Kodak provides an end to end, integrated solution that takes the customer’s order online and sends it to the business management system—eliminating the need to manually rekey customer orders for job management, processing and invoicing. The new functionality dramatically reduces the cost of processing online orders, and extends the business management reach of EMS Business Software to nontraditional print products and services that are frequently ordered online.

Using cXML format, Kodak linked two of its most powerful systems to allow graphic communications companies to introduce more automation into the production process. The connected system provides an unprecedented level of functionality for printing companies.

When a customer places an order through the user’s KODAK INSITE Storefront System, the order information is validated instantly in KODAK EMS Business Software: the item ordered, quantity, special instructions and shipping address. Once the web order information is validated, KODAK EMS Software can automatically create, release and schedule the job. When the web order is shipped using KODAK EMS Software, shipment information including the ship date and tracking number is sent back to the INSITE Storefront System.

“By automating the processing of web based orders, we greatly reduce the potential for human error and the costs of handling these orders,” said Eliza Leung, Product Manager for Kodak’s Business Workflow Products. “The integrated EMS Software-INSITE System solution gives Kodak customers full business control over their web based transactions, and helps them analyze, manage and grow their online businesses as part of their overall corporate strategies.”

KODAK EMS Business Software is a complete business workflow solution that helps manage the totality of a graphic communications business. Combining the strength of a leading ERP solution with sophisticated print focused capabilities, EMS Software serves as a catalyst for business optimization and growth, reducing waste and implementing lean business practices that maximize the success of print service providers in a changing business environment. EMS Software offers real time access to business data; integrated customer and supplier relationship management; advanced estimating and production planning; shop floor data collection; integrated quality control; and much more.

The integrated solution will be deployed initially at LVI, a print service provider located in Boston, Mass. “We were the first commercial printer to go live with EMS Business Software and it serves as the backbone of our PRINT OPTIMIZATION operating ethos,” said Christopher Wells, CEO at LVI. “Integration between EMS and INSITE Storefront will extend our automation and management control to our online business, while increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of our customers’ online print procurement.”

EMS Software can drive production at a single site or be used to link hundreds of users across multiple facilities. EMS Software integrates with other KODAK and third party products, and offers KODAK PRINERGY Business Link Software connectivity via JDF.

The KODAK INSITE Storefront System offers everything print service providers need to support online ordering. It provides catalogs from which customers can order books and manuals, business identification products (such as business cards and letterhead), and collateral. Orders can be new or reorders of existing material.
