Lasermax Announces In-Line Punching / Perforating System

Press release from the issuing company

Ljungby, Sweden (April 30, 2008) – The Lasermax Roll Systems 300 Processor series in-line punching and perforating system for high-speed digital printers will be unveiled at Drupa 2008. The 300 Processor series includes models that operate before or after the printer to punch tractor holes, cross perforations, vertical perforations, or even custom punching patterns.

“At Drupa 2008, we expect continued momentum for roll-fed digital color printing technology,” says Hans Eliasson, Vice President of Engineering for Lasermax Roll Systems. “As these printers improve and become more accepted, we expect an increased demand in the market for in-line paper processing solutions. This will be driven by an expectation from our customers to eliminate their use of offset printed and processed forms.”

With digital color printing, customers will be able to purchase plain paper stock for all their jobs and can perform any required punching or perforating at the time of printing. Purchasing unconverted paper and processing in-line can result in significant paper savings. This will be especially important for Service Bureaus who stock pre-printed rolls for many different customers.

The availability of digital color printing will also accelerate the migration of standard statements into TransPromo applications, which can include personalized marketing offers, reply forms and coupons. The 300 Processor’s dynamic perforating capability will play an important role in maintaining the best possible appearance of the final TransPromo statement. Perforations are created only where needed and additional pages in the statement will not have excessive perforations.

The 300 Processor series currently includes four standard models, with capabilities including tractor hole punching, file hole punching, fanfold cross perforating, and dynamic cross and vertical perforating. Tractor holes or perforations in fixed intervals are created before the printer. Dynamic perforating for payment slips and coupons is performed after the printer. All models utilize a controlled paper infeed and outfeed section to maintain precise registration of the web.

Lasermax Roll Systems is the worldwide leader in automated paper handling, processing, and vision-based quality control systems for digital print production. Its products are manufactured in Sweden and the USA, and are installed in more than 50 countries worldwide.
