HP Indigo Presses Open the Door to Profitable Growth for bsquared

Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif., May 1, 2008 – HP today announced that bsquared design & printing has increased its ability to exceed customer expectations for high-end, fast-turnaround printing with an HP Indigo press 5000 and an HP Indigo press 5500. With the HP digital presses, the New York-based print service provider is able to profitably and confidently expand its business into new markets, including the government sector, magazines and booklets.

After reviewing competitive offerings, bsquared selected and installed the HP Indigo press 5000 based on its small footprint, ease of use and the unmistakable, offset-quality printing available only with HP. Within months of installation, bsquared realized a 100 percent return on investment through additional business opportunities and the elimination of subcontracting to digitally equipped trade printers.

The success bsquared experienced with the 5000 model press led to the purchase of an HP Indigo press 5500, which is being installed this month.

"With the installation of the HP Indigo press 5000 and 5500, bsquared is able to harness the potential of digital printing to address new markets and expand its business," said Rich Raimondi, vice president and general manager, U.S. Graphic Arts Organization, HP. "As a leading digital color production technology, HP Indigo enables firms like bsquared to drive profitable growth and meet customer demand."

The HP Indigo press 5000 allows bsquared to efficiently produce a wide range of products including booklets, magazines and variable-data marketing applications, opening the door to larger clients in different market segments. In only a few months, bsquared expanded its business into the government sector, where applications such as badges and inserts are in high demand.

"The amazing quality and outstanding productivity of the HP Indigo press 5000 has opened doors for our company that we could not even imagine in past," said Tim Boucher, owner, bsquared. "We are thrilled to expand our portfolio further with the installation of the HP Indigo press 5500, which will allow us to explore new market opportunities with confidence and continue growing our business."

The HP Indigo press 5000 is designed for extremely demanding production environments. It prints in up to seven colors, delivering offset quality on a wide range of substrates, and is supported by a complete range of specialized solutions partners. The flagship HP Indigo press 5500 uses economical, off-the-shelf media and prints in resolutions up to 1,200 dots per inch. An on-press fast ink replacement feature on the 5500 model enables near-zero downtime on spot-color changes, and the 5500's on-press oil recycling system has the environmental benefit of reducing overall use of imaging oil by approximately 50 percent.

Both the HP Indigo press 5000 and 5500 models are PANTONE licensed and incorporate HP DreamColor Technologies, a certified system of color technologies and sciences that make it easy to produce accurate, predictable and consistent color across a series of digital color devices.
