Gietz Demonstrates FSA 1060 Foil Commander At Drupa

Press release from the issuing company

April 27, 2008 -- At DRUPA 2008, Gietz will be celebrating over 50 years of industry leadership manufacturing automatic foil stamping presses dedicated exclusively to foil stamping. Gietz will be demonstrating the latest developments in that technology on their booth B53 in Hall 3, along with a photographic exhibition of Gietz’s 50 years of foil stamping history.  On display will also be one of the original foil stamping presses manufactured by Gietz in 1957.

The main focus of attention on the booth will be Gietz’s top-of-the-line FSA 1060 Foil Commander. The press will demonstrate the proprietary smart register system, which allows register to side and front of sheet or register mark at speeds of 8000 IPH. The speed of the press has been increased from 7500 to 8000 IPH; it also features 385 US tons and 25% more dwell time on impression plus a timed dwell system of up to 2.5 sec. The FSA1060 also includes the Vacufoil system with  quick-change foil roll device patented by Gietz. The Vacufoil system assures consistent and minimal foil tension and eliminates the risk of foil breakage at such high speeds.

Also shown on the Gietz booth will be the new ROFO 910, demonstrating the double festoon system which enables the higher press speeds of 100 m/min. The patented Vacufoil system on the ROFO allows for perfect tension control of foil at the higher speeds. Gietz presses feature a foil waste collection system that bails and compresses used foil for easy, non-stop removal of the waste, thus again saving  operator time.

The Gietz HTF CONICAL TRAY ERECTOR with servo motor control will in demonstration also.

FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE

The FSA 1060 will be stamping a special project, requiring two days of production at the show for completion. The preprinted job, in a first pass at the show, will be finished with five foils in the running direction and one transverse foil. On a second day the piece will be heavily embossed with a large combo die, demonstrating the superior tonnage available with the press.  Also applied will be a registered hologram. The ROFO 910 will be foiling and embossing a laminated substrate of PET, aluminum and polyethylene.  The end product will be a resealable retort bag for coffee beans, an example of highly challenging flexible packaging.
