Agfa Shows Integrated Publication Platform at drupa

Press release from the issuing company

March 20, 2008 -- Agfa Graphics announced today that it will bring to its booth in hall 8a at drupa 2008 the new :Apogee Media, an advanced flexible content management and editorial workflow platform specially designed for content creators, brand owners and service providers who work in either print or web-based media. Currently being successfully employed by several professional end-users, :Apogee Media will be demonstrated during the industry-renowned trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany, 29 May-11 June and will be commercially available at drupa.

:Apogee Media extends Agfa's expertise and comprehensive portfolio in total systems solutions for graphic arts with a product that combines flexible content management with a powerful workflow platform for page layout based on open standards and accessibility through a standard web browser. With its advanced features, it will provide tremendous workflow benefits for publishers, design agencies, commercial printers and other graphic arts creators involved in high-volume, high-quality print and web publishing.

The new :Apogee Media is an integrated solution that offers more efficient data management, improved process control, real-time collaboration, and higher throughput. Instead of storing files locally or in proprietary formats, all content is centrally managed and can be accessed and continually tracked as source material across several publications, if necessary. It combines the openness of an XML-based content management solution with an extensive integration for printed publications using Adobe InDesign for layouts, and Agfa :Apogee for pre-flight, proofing, color management and automation.

":Apogee Media offers our customers a streamlined solution to create printed or web pages in a collaborative, accessible environment. It also provides increased control even when content is used across several publications," said Agfa's Hans Van Glabeke, product manager, :Apogee Media. "And because everything is managed via a web browser, it avoids the costs and conflicts associated with maintaining desktop applications. It also easily adapts to a wide variety of production environments, and can be personalized for each user profile. It is one of the most powerful, resilient and flexible tools we have yet developed for content management and editorial workflow."

Agfa's :Apogee Media is a robust solution for all content creators-both those who work in print and those who work on the web. It can be used for content- as well as for layout-driven publications such as brochures, magazines, posters, data sheets, manuals, books, newsletters, reports and newspapers. Since it is based on proven :Apogee technology, it is also regarded as one of the most reliable systems for proofing and PDF-processing.
