New EFI Proofing Systems Earn SWOP Certifications with Canon Printers

Press release from the issuing company

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 15, 2008 – Chromaticity, Inc., the leader in distribution and deployment of color management and digital imaging technologies for the graphic arts market, and EFI, the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today announced that standards organization IDEAlliance has awarded SWOP "Grade 3" certifications to EFI Validation 155 and 190 Offset Premium inkjet proofing medias when used with EFI Colorproof XF inkjet RIP and Canon iPF series printers.

"We are pleased to have received official SWOP certification from IDEAlliance," says Ian Mackenzie, vice president of marketing at Chromaticity. "Canon USA, EFI and Chromaticity have partnered to offer our dealers and customers high quality contract proofing solutions that adhere to the industry's most rigid standards. This compliments Chromaticity's existing media offerings that feature EFI Validation 250 Satin – the highly successful inkjet paper, designed from the ground up, to hit GRACoL specifications for proofing."

IDEAlliance SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certification of EFI's Colorproof XF and Validation 155 and 190 proofing medias assures graphics, publishing, packaging and production professionals that their color output represents consistent and accurate color to match the appearance of certified press proofs used in print production.

EFI Validation 155 Offset features a true paper-base stock that gives the user the same look and feel as offset and board stock. With a 155 gsm (grams per square meter) weight, it is thin enough to use for packaging and large catalog mock-ups. The paper base provides superb opacity to prevent show-through and has a wide gamut with very little optical brighteners.

EFI Validation 190 Offset Premium Proofing Media is a 190 gsm premium offset proofing media that utilizes the same coating as Validation 155. The Validation 155 and 190 media sets are interchangeable, providing users with flexibility through two basis weights. Both grades use a paper base manufactured with renewable resources.

Sample rolls and paper specs can be obtained by calling Chromaticity's office at 616-988-6119 or by emailing [email protected]. In addition, Chromaticity has developed high quality profiles for EFI Colorproof XF and for third party inkjet RIPs that help create an easy installation and conversion process. For those customers who may be paying high prices for boutique European proofing papers, Chromaticity offers a "Pocket R.O.I Calculator" that can readily identify significant paper savings. That spells increased profits in this tight economy. Profiles for EFI RIPs can be found at www.efi-media.com.
