Digital Color Concepts Cuts Proofing Costs by 75 Percent with Remote Director

Press release from the issuing company

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2007) - With a reputation for technical innovation, New York City-based Digital Color Concepts (DCC) viewed monitor proofing as a way to save money and become more efficient. They just didn't expect to do it so quickly.
"Within three months, we were using 75 percent fewer internal hard copy proofs and the system had already paid for itself," explains Paul Codi, operations manager for the pre-press and printing organization. "With an average of more than 300 images in house per month, even saving one or two internal rounds for each image generates a huge cost savings. We also found that we were able to turn projects around much faster because of the time we were able to save on images that have multiple rounds of corrections."
DCC began investigating virtual proofing last year as a means of saving money on internal proofing and corrections, reducing cycle time between customer corrections and to create a tighter line of communication with their clients. DCC ultimately chose Remote Director from Integrated Color Solutions (ICS) because of a better user interface and the superior color management capabilities. Additionally, said Codi, his team was impressed by the responsiveness of ICS' support team.
Within a few weeks, Remote Director was rolled out to each of the company's retouching workstations. "Our staff came up to speed quickly and there was little resistance to the new technology," says Codi, "thanks to the easy-to-use system." DCC now relies on Remote Director to proof color corrections and photographic retouching for many of their clients, including a number of high-end fashion and beauty customers.
DCC is in the process of integrated Remote Director into the company's Xinet workflow, and is actively reaching out to many of their clients to demonstrate the benefits of virtual proofing. Codi says clients seem to be impressed by the accuracy and time savings they're able to achieve and, he adds, DCC is likes the idea of having input over the client's proof viewing environment.
Long term, DCC plans to install Remote Director in all major client locations as well as in their new sheetfed pressroom in Mountainside, N.J.
