Press release from the issuing company

October 12, 2007--Printing Industries Alliance (PIA), the regional affiliate of Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, offers a variety of free safety training programs to its members.
One of the most comprehensive, the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach for Printers, will be offered on November 6 and 8, 2007 from 8:30 am.-3:00 pm at Pictorial Offset Corporation, 111 Amor Avenue, Carlstadt, New Jersey. Registrants must attend both sessions to receive certification. There is no charge for the training itself, only a modest fee for breakfasts and lunches.
This training is applicable to ALL employees, although the target audience is employees who are in a position to help promote safety among their co-workers. Training is geared to lead press and bindery operators, supervisors, safety committee members, managers, HR managers, and safety coordinators.
Topics addressed will include: Introduction to OSHA, Walking and Working Surfaces, Means of Egress and Fire Protection, Electrical, Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, Material Handling, and Safety and Health Programs.
Having certified, trained employees in your facility demonstrates that you are a safety-minded employer and reduces the costs of workers' comp insurance. This program offers a solid foundation in the requirements of the applicable OSHA standards and how to apply them to help insure employee safety. Materials provided to participants will serve as a useful reference and as a basis for in-house training.
Registrants must attend both sessions to receive OSHA certification. To participate, call PIA toll-free at 1-800-777-4PIA or 908/276-4482.
