Improve workflow with manroland's printnet

Press release from the issuing company

(October 26, 2008) The manroland PRINTVALUE program that has earned the respect of more than 2,000 sheetfed printers is printnet.  This automated workflow solution makes printing plants faster from start to finish as a result of system networking and integration.  From data acceptance and graphics to pre-press, printing and post-press, printnet expands the ability to take on and turn out more work.  The beauty of printnet's flexibility – it adapts for sheetfed, commercial web and newspaper printing – will be explained in detail at manroland's booth (#1246) during Graph Expo, to take place October 26-29 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

"printnet is a unique solution and it covers all the bases,"  said Hal Stratton,     manroland's Director of New Technologies. "With the demands facing every printer, time is always a factor in the equation.  printnet's automated features give any printer the time to do things quicker and more efficiently, and that gives them more time to get more work done.  Most problems occur with workflow bottlenecks, so why live with the problem when you have the solution?"

With a workflow solution like printnet, sheetfed printers have a software program that addresses the real world of production.  Automated work sequences, Closed-Loop control systems, higher operating reliability and documentation of order  pro-cessing result in high throughput speed and exceptional quality.  The automatic transfer of job data in JDF format makes this information available immediately, and printnet also offers a solution for printers not yet using JDF.

"Our three presses are all networked using manroland printnet control and     automatic processes," said Rich Lawrence, Quality Assurance Manager for Finlay Printing in Bloomfield, CT.  He has a unique situation with his three ROLAND 700 presses; all are vastly different.  One is 6-color with coater and another is a 10-color perfector.  The third press is an 8-color in-line foiler with coater.

"A couple of our pressroom foremen took a one-day printnet class and it was well worth it.  The makeready time off our presses is faster and we have cut waste   substantially."

printnet offers a full range of In-line solutions with In-line Foiler, In-line Observer and In-line ColorPilot.  It also offers Quality Control solutions for PressPilot Console with ColorPilot, System Brunner okBalance and Instrument Flight. Integrated solutions include Prism (MIS), printnet JobPlan, printPressManager and printnet Monitor.

On the commercial web side, printnet delivers ideal workflow from the very start with digital networking and optimization of the production process as a whole. printnet will digitize the production process on a JDF basis and automate pro-cesses for greater flexibility.  It also provides integrated prepress, press and post-press systems, and improves multiple site productivity and efficiency.

The automation and networking of work processes and requirements for newspaper printing and production plays a key role.  printnet is the workflow system that ideally supports newspaper organizations in their modernization process, with state-of-the-art technology throughout.  It is the superior digital work-flow solution for everything from ad taking to delivery.
