Dogan Offset Expands Insert Printing in Turkey With Tensor Presses

Press release from the issuing company

WOODRIDGE, IL (September 2007) - Dogan Offset Publishing and Printing (Dogan Ofset Yayincilik ve Matbaacilik AS), located in Esenyurt, Turkey, is increasing production capabilities with the installation of two identical Tensor presses each consisting of two Tensor T-500 4-high towers and one H-50 folder. Installation of the new Tensor commercial footprint shaftless presses will begin during the 4th quarter of 2007.
The T-500 is designed for both long and short-run commercial and single-wide hybrid newspaper markets which are incorporating more commercial work into their business plans. The innovatively designed, high-speed press, rated at a speed of 50,000 iph, incorporates three vibrator rollers and three ink form rollers to meet the ink coverage demands of today's growing heatset and UV markets. On-the-run plate cylinder cocking with form roller-following, a standard feature, provides an additional valuable tool for accurate registration.
The full-bearer T-500 offers substantially more square inches of ink transfer capability than any press in its market. In addition, independent circumferential 10- and 13-side adjustments and a footprint shaftless drive system are standard.
The Dogan T-500 press also includes EPG remote inking, Quad-tech register guidance, brush dampening and MegTec vertical dryers and splicers.
Dogan Offset was founded in 1979 by the Hurriyet Newspaper Group under the name Hurriyet Offset. In 1994, the Hurriyet Group was taken over by the Dogan Group and the name Hurriyet Offset changed to Dogan Offset. The Company was the first and remains the largest commercial heatset printer in Turkey.
Specializing in printing high quality magazines, commercial inserts, school books and telephone directories, the Dogan Offset plant in Istanbul is capable of printing and finishing roughly one billion signatures per year. The new Tensor T-500 units will be used to increase the commercial insert printing capacity substantially, taking the yearly production up to 1.5 billion signatures while reducing the overall cost of printing.
The Group's flagship newspaper, Hurriyet, has been successfully printing on Tensor presses in their Adana DPC and Antalya DPC plants for over three years. The success achieved with the Tensor presses, and the advantages to be gained with the robust T-500 units convinced Dogan Offset that Tensor is the best choice for the types of jobs they will be printing.
This pressline, sold through Pasifik Ic ve Dis Tic. ve Müm. A.S., will be the first heatset Tensor press and the first T-500 printing units in Turkey.
Tensor Group, Inc. is a privately held U.S. manufacturer of single-width web offset press equipment for commercial, insert and newspaper markets worldwide. Over 2,000 units have been successfully installed in more than 25 countries since Tensor's inception in 1993.
