HP Indigo and HP Large-format Printing Solutions Support Newly Announced PANTONE Goe System

Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif., September 25, 2007-HP today announced support of the new PANTONE Goe System palette.  HP Indigo and HP Designjet product lines will support PANTONE Goe in future digital front end tools and raster image processor (RIP) products.
With the large-format printer and digital press support for PANTONE Goe, designers will enjoy the advantages of the larger color selection choice of the new PANTONE Goe System on proofs and mock-ups produced on HP Designjet printers, as well as in their production projects on print service providers' HP Indigo digital presses.
"HP has a broad portfolio of Pantone-licensed color output devices ranging from wide-format inkjet printers to Indigo digital presses. We are committed to supporting the significantly expanded range of color choices in the PANTONE Goe System," said Stephen Nigro, senior vice president, Graphics and Imaging Business, HP.  "With HP DreamColor technologies, special PANTONE optimized look-up tables and HP Professional PANTONE Emulation technology, we are able to produce the best possible color results on our wide variety of output devices, delivering optimal representations of the new PANTONE Goe Colors."
HP's initial digital press support for PANTONE Goe involves CMYK emulations through HP Professional PANTONE Technology, a component of HP DreamColor . Future implementations of the PANTONE Goe System will include its enhanced emulations in a broader color gamut utilizing the six-color HP IndiChrome on-press and the seven-color HP IndiChrome Plus. It will also include support for mixed spot-color inks through another HP DreamColor component, HP IndiChrome off-press.  HP will integrate the new licensed PANTONE Goe libraries in new HP Indigo digital front end releases planned through 2008.
The HP Large-format Printing Division will integrate PANTONE Goe libraries within the software developer kits HP makes available to third-party RIP developers.
"Throughout Pantone's longstanding relationship with HP, we have continued to partner to offer designers and printers innovative solutions to inspire creativity and push the boundaries of technology," said Andy Hatkoff, vice president of advanced color technology for Pantone. "By incorporating PANTONE Goe libraries into the HP Indigo digital presses and HP Designjet printers, HP is ensuring its customers the best possible representations of the more than 2,000 new colors available in the Goe System."
HP presented demonstration copies of its license-pending PANTONE Goe simulation swatch books at the Graph Expo trade show. The demonstration swatch books will also be presented at Label Expo in Brussels and at IGAS in Japan. The pending PANTONE Goe license will be the sixth license HP Indigo holds for PANTONE technology. Existing licenses include a new HP IndiChome Plus seven-color emulation; HP IndiChrome on-press six-color emulation; CMYK on-press PANTONE emulation, HP Professional PANTONE technology; and HP IndiChrome off-press mixed spot-color inks.
The HP Indigo Pantone-licensed solutions are supporting elements of HP DreamColor, a system approach to making it easy to produce accurate, predictable and consistent color through a series of digital devices, including displays, printers and technologies.
