Press release from the issuing company

September 20, 2007 -- Hauppauge, New York – This year’s Graph Expo show, held September 9-12, 2007 at McCormack Place in Chicago, Illinois, was marked by brisk attendance and the showcasing of several machines engineered to assist printers and binders in expanding their sales opportunities and growing their profits.  Traffic was especially heavy at the Muller Martini booth, where the industry leader in print finishing presented live demonstrations of its equipment and also shared insights about how operations can optimize workflow productivity.
Demonstrated at the Muller Martini booth was a highly flexible automated press delivery configuration consisting of a Topveyor overhead conveyor, the new Preciso rotary trimmer, and the Vivo horizontal log bundler.  Also demonstrated was the Muller BravoPlus saddle stitcher, which was shown together with the Palamides 502 banding machine.  Furthermore, the company displayed the capabilities of its new Alprinta-V continuously size-variable web offset press unit, which is ideally suited for the packaging market.
“I’m proud to state that the industry continually looks to Muller Martini for new equipment innovations, coupled with intelligent workflow strategies, that can speed production, improve operational efficiency and broaden profit potential,” said Werner Naegeli, President and CEO of Muller Martini Corp.  “Graphic arts professionals representing an extensive cross-section of the marketplace visited our show booth during Graph Expo, they were impressed by our demonstrations, and they also discussed with our print finishing experts operation-specific ways in which our machines and our knowledge can enhance their existing bottom lines while also creating opportunities for generating new revenue.”
Throughout the entire Graph Expo event, Muller Martini continually welcomed a large and enthusiastic turnout of show attendees to its exhibit, including top decision-makers from virtually every aspect of the industry.  The company also reported robust sales over the 4-day event.
Muller Martini press delivery systems can be adapted easily to almost any production environment and are engineered to process printed products between press and finishing in the fastest, most reliable and least labor-intensive way possible – reducing waste, saving paper, boosting throughput speed and lowering the cost of manpower.  The Topveyor conveyor saves valuable floor space by running overhead while providing the ability to process signatures or finished products in a shingle stream from press to finishing without the need for single-copy timing.  The new Preciso rotary trimmer, which is one of the world’s most precise and dependable trimming technologies, provides the ability to finish products with optimal trim quality at full press speed.  The Vivo horizontal log bundler, which has the smallest floor space requirement in its class, tightly controls the continuous conditioning of signatures to produce superior quality logs.
The Muller Martini BravoPlus saddle stitcher provides a level of automation that is unmatched in the mid-performance class, making set-ups incredibly fast and operational productivity very high. The 13,000 c/hr. BravoPlus produces superior quality saddle stitched products and when combined with the Palamides 502 banding machine, provides the ability to use plain or imprinted paper banding material for easy-to-handle bundles with accurate product count. The BravoPlus stitcher also has newly enhanced feeder technology.  Feeders on the BravoPlus have been re-designed to enable efficient advance and retard timing of each individual feeder to the chain – a feature that every machine operator wants.
Muller Martini’s Alprinta-V continuously size-variable web offset press makes size changeovers  quick and also less costly, and as a result, the press is a smart choice for labeling and packaging jobs. The Alprinta-V series utilizes a continuously size variable insert system.  The insert remains in the press during a size change, since only the actual size parts – the blanket cylinder and the plate cylinder – are exchanged.  The change is completed without tools and breaking the web is not necessary.  The size parts are light and easy to handle, yet extremely stable.  In less than five minutes, the press can be changed over to a new size.  Alprinta-V achieves speeds up to 1,200 ft/min. while also delivering high quality printing results that rival sheetfed.  Job preparation is very quick and highly efficient thanks to Muller Martini’s renowned job set-up technology.
