Codimag Expands and Announces New Viva 420 Web Press With Aniflo Offset System.

Press release from the issuing company

(West Hartford, CT) - September 2007 -- Matik North America announced the availability of the Codimag Viva 420 with Aniflo Offset.  The press will be introduced at Label Expo in Brussels in September.  MNA is the exclusive distributor for sales and service of Codimag presses in North America.
"Shorter shelf lifetime of products has pushed the label market into short runs" states Paschal Duchene MD, Codimag. "At the same time printers are facing increasing price pressures from customers.  Therefore we feel that label printers clearly need solutions for higher efficiency.  Codimag sees that we can reduce set up times and material waste.  Thus we are introducing the VIVA 420 featuring our Aniflo Offset.  We will continue to manufacture the VIVA 420 Letterpress which like the offset, also offers hot foil stamping, flexo varnishing, embossing and screen printing"
The Codimag VIVA has a 420 mm (16 1/2") web width and a 19" print cylinder which operates at speeds up to 12000 iph in the intermittent mode. Maximum repeat for offset is 17"and for letterpress 18"; the minimum for both is 8".
Codimag is committed to Aniflo Offset, a proven technology that has already been proven on sheet fed presses.  It is based on four cylinders of equal size where Aniflo inking maintains offset quality on a print unit where inertia is reduced to a minimum.  An anilox roller delivers a constant ink film to a form rubber roller, which transfers ink to the plate and from the plate to the blanket (see Figure 1).
This has several advantages. The Aniflo, unlike a standard litho ink train, does not require regular adjustment. The form roller and blanket cylinders are equipped with the same rubber blanket, the form roller to the plate is set with bearers in order to guarantee inking precision and stability. The Aniflo is a keyless inking system, the ink film is controlled by the anilox roller. The new tower has low thermal inertia so it provides better reactivity and less wastage. Quick color adjustments are made possible as  transfer and reciprocating rollers are no longer in the ink train.  As all four cylinders are the same size it eliminates ghosting.
The VIVA 420 is equipped with state of the art servo control developed by B& R Automation.  The machine features independent print unit drives which communicate through a fast BUS, simplifying diagnosis and providing a more responsive control platform. Register and print quality is improved by eliminating the complex mechanical gearing and drive components. The control panel utilizes a touch screen with an intuitive interface to ease press operation and provide a high level of operator comfort. A modem allows for remote diagnosis and service support.
Due to continued growth and product development, Codimag has created a number of new positions to oversee each product line and ensure quality. Codimag is situated south of Paris and has recently completed a customized building with a modern production facility. With an installed base of nearly 300 machines, Codimag is the largest manufacturer of intermittent web presses worldwide.  To find out more about the VIVA 420 Aniflo Offset or the VIVA 420 Letterpress.  Call 860-232-2323 or visit us at www.matik.com
