Toyo Ink America Presents Flexible Packaging Inks for Better Printing and Environmental Performance

Press release from the issuing company

ADDISON, Ill. September 11, 2007 -- In the flexible packaging/label printing area of the Toyo Ink America booth (#455) at Graph Expo 2007, the company will highlight its most versatile flexographic and gravure inks, including ink products designed specifically for improved environmental performance.
Retort flexible packaging has been perfected for high-speed commercial applications, and so have all the related inks, adhesives and film. The solvent-type LioValue and water-based AquaEcol are Toyo Ink's best gravure inks for this purpose.
LioValue is formulated to meet the performance demands of general purpose flexible packaging through boil and retort packaging. It provides excellent lamination on a wide range of plastic films, especially transparent barrier films. It offers high color strength and low solvent retention.
Substitute inks can reduce concerns associated with the use of solvent-based gravure inks, in addition to being a beneficial part of an overall toxins-reduction program. AquaEcol balances both health and environmental concerns.
AquaEcol prints on an array of substrates for flexible packaging use, including OPP, PET, nylon and PVDC-coated film. For boil and retort, a hardener is required. AquaEcol is available in high-resolution and high-color strength formulations.
AquaEcol holds its color and viscosity for longer periods during print runs and provides better print quality under long-run printing conditions. It permits replacement of solvent-based cleaners with non-VOC-containing substitutes.
IroFlex, Toyo Ink's solvent-type flexographic ink, excels at high-speed production, easily standing up to press speeds of 900 to 1,200 feet per minute. It promotes superior adhesion on OPP, PET and nylon, while minimizing solvent retention.
Like AquaEcol for gravure printing, AquaLiona provides a green choice for flexo printing. This water-based flexo ink allows printers to satisfy high-speed printing applications and reduce their impact on the environment.
AquaLiona delivers reliable image quality for snack packaging. It can be printed on various types of film, such as OPP, PET and nylon. It can be formulated for printing high-resolution images. It produces no solvent odor. It also reduces the use of hazardous or toxic substances in cleaning solutions.
You can see a broad selection of products from Toyo Ink America in Booth #455 at Graph Expo 2007, September 9-12 at Chicago's McCormick Place.
