September 10, 2007 -- Domino Printing Sciences plc, a world-leader in total coding, marking, traceability and printing solutions is launching its L-Series ink jet solution for the mailing market, at this year's Graph Expo. Making its world premier on the Domino booth (# 3852) is the L400, the first product in the range. Complementing the L-Series, Domino is also launching its BaseLine mail table, designed specifically for ink jet applications.
Based on patented thermal ink jet technology, the Domino L-Series opens up the market for addressing on direct mail, catalogs and magazines for Domino. It is suitable for virtually all sheet-fed mail base applications. The new L-Series can print to all USPS postal standards including the USPS Intelligent Mail Barcode (formerly the 4-state Customer Barcode). The system delivers high resolution (600 x 300dpi) print, at 375 feet per minute and offers an extremely competitive price to performance ratio. A range of versatile inks and support programs are also available with the L-Series.
Two demonstrations of the L400 plus BaseLine mail base solution can be seen on the Domino booth; one for longer production runs in magazine and catalog addressing featuring bulk ink supply, shuttle feeder and exit shingle conveyor. The second system, configured for direct mail addressing, will incorporate a simple disposable cartridge ink supply together with a friction feeder.
Product Director of Commercial Print at Domino Printing Sciences, Philip Easton, underlines the significance of these Graph Expo launches: "Domino has set its sight on delivering complete solutions for the commercial printing and mailing sectors – including variable addressing, sequential numbering, text and graphics at real-world production speeds, and our proposition is hugely strengthened by the launch of the L400 and BaseLine mail base at Graph Expo."
In addition to the new L-Series, Domino is presenting other variable data printing solutions. These include its K-Series high speed, high resolution piezo drop on demand printer, which can be installed to complement existing offset or flexo presses for overprinting of numbers, graphics, barcodes and addresses to deliver high quality part- or full-personalization. The model on display will be the K-200.
Domino's Bitjet+ binary printer is demonstrating high-speed addressing on glossy stock, also with the new USPS Intelligent Mail Barcode. Designed for high speed in-line variable data printing applications, the Bitjet+ provides an unparalleled standard of continuous uninterrupted personalization for applications such as addressing, numbering, graphics and barcodes, on to a wide range of substrates for a variety of requirements.
Domino's versatile A-Series is the world's best-selling continuous ink jet printer. Demonstrating its high speed numbering and personalization capabilities as well as its ease of integration onto existing narrow web printing lines and slitter-rewinder set-ups at Graph Expo is an A400 CP. Capable of automatic serial numbering/batch coding, reproducing logos, bar codes/dot codes and real time clocks, the A-Series CP delivers a flexible and simplified alternative to traditional numbering boxes.
The Domino JetArray is a world leader in reliable and economic high speed mailroom addressing and this popularity looks set to continue, with the announcement of upgraded software delivering full compatibility with the latest USPS postal rate structures and the new Intelligent Mail barcode, plus the launch of a 'next generation' fast-drying, black acetone ink. These enhancements enable publishers and mailing houses to improve profitability by taking maximum advantage of postal discount schemes, while responding to USA regulatory trends towards lower VOC emissions and HAP exposure.
Domino is also presenting the capabilities of its latest generation Editor GT ink jet production line controller, which combines data preparation tools with modular solutions for the management and in-line printing of personalized data, and real time numbering.
From its scribing laser product range, Domino will show its high speed DSL1. The system delivers high performance coding, superior quality and creates an indelible mark on substrates such as paper, cartons and glass. It can print any type of information – alphanumeric codes, bar codes and graphics – on stationary or moving substrates.
