Xerox, Business Partners Demonstrate New Ways to Produce Revenue-Generating Print Jobs at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y. Sept. 7, 2007 - Xerox Corporation is teaming up with its business partners to give print providers a first-hand look at technologies that will help them effectively harness the power of digital printing and create high-value applications such as digital books, postcards, marketing collateral and customized direct-mail campaigns.
Software and finishing solutions from more than 20 Xerox business partners will be operating in tandem with Xerox's industry-leading digital technology at Graph Expo, the printing industry's largest annual exhibition in North America, Sept. 9-12 in Chicago.
"Our emphasis at Graph Expo is demonstrating the many ways Xerox is delivering high-value applications that help print providers grow their businesses," said Quincy Allen, president, Xerox Production Systems Group. "Solutions from our business partners help drive this applications-led strategy. Seeing them in action is the perfect way for customers to hit the ground running and use their Xerox technology to its fullest potential."
New partners, new solutions
Solutions from Xerox business partners on display in the Xerox booth include:
- Personalized Communications - Atlas Software's PrintShop Web is an integrated Web-to-Print solution for personalized promotional print management via the Web. It allows online modification, ordering and production of repetitive, promotional and personalized documents. PrintShop Web enables print providers and brand owners to effectively manage promotional print flows, streamline customer interaction while combining the benefits of variable information (VI) with on-demand printing. Atlas Software's PrintShop Mail is a stand-alone variable-data printing solution that when combined with Xerox's digital presses, allows users to create personalized mailings, sales literature and magazine covers. Variable content from customer databases including images is easily inserted into an existing layout and instantly previewed. Each image is then processed for a single impression, enabling efficient printing at or near rated speeds, depending on the customer's processing capability. PrintShop Mail is available for both Mac and Windows and is optimized for Xerox's FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection.
- Digital Books - To help customers enter the lucrative book publishing market, Book Production Systems, Inc. (BPS) offers Web-based tools and templates to produce short-run, personalized books on digital presses including the DocuColor Digital Presses and Xerox Nuvera  Systems. BPS also offers affordable, multi-purpose finishing equipment that produces both hard and soft cover books, as well as support, resources and training to assist customers in establishing a full-service digital book factory.
- Marketing Campaigns - Pleasing, eye-catching and brand-recognizable color is essential to a successful print marketing campaign. With CGS digital proofing and color workflow software, high-quality, consistent color is easily delivered, regardless of how or where it is printed. The company's ORIS Press Matcher uses hot folder directories to automatically transport and process digital files over a computer network. When you copy or move a file to the hot folder, the software automatically configures the job based on color requirements of a particular RIP or output device. It then creates high-resolution files for standardized color printing between conventional and digital presses such as the Xerox iGen3 90 and iGen3 110 Digital Production Presses.
Outstanding color documents
The latest series of Creo Color Servers for the Xerox DocuColor Digital Color Printer/Copiers and Digital Presses will be on display in the Xerox booth at Graph Expo. The CX260 Creo Color Server offers color management and image-quality control. When the CX260 Server drives the DocuColor 260 Printer/Copier, its out-of-the-box default color settings make the DocuColor 260 an ideal proofing device for offset presses. The CX260 Creo color server also enables the management of color and image quality through International Color Consortium color profiles.
Xerox is also demonstrating the color and output quality produced by the DocuColor 5000 Digital Press driven by the CXP50 Creo color server. This color server offers consistent, high-quality color combined with professional color management and color-matching tools. The CXP50 Creo color server uses advanced fusion imaging hardware technology for high productivity and outstanding value in the mid-production printing market. Its high-speed RIP processes to the 160 GB disk space - not to memory - keeping the memory free for other applications and operating system tasks.
The award-winning DARWIN VI Authoring Tool is being demonstrated on the CXP50 color server to show how easily documents can be personalized to improve marketing response rates. The DARWIN VI Authoring Tool creates full-color personalized reports, invitations, statements, brochures and booklets by seamlessly integrating with industry-standard design programs. Text, graphics, colors, layout, charts, background and even entire pages can be dynamic, in response to the specifics of a database entry.
Automated digital workflows
For print providers who are new to digital printing or are looking to improve the efficiency of their existing print workflow, Ultimate Technographics' Impostrip On-Demand Digital software integrates with Xerox FreeFlow Process Manager to automate imposition, the process of arranging pages prior to printing. The software gives users full control over page position, scaling, bleeds and margins. Profiles for brochures, books, postcards and other complex print jobs are saved as hot folders and can be easily retrieved via a network or the Internet and sent to the Xerox digital press in one click. Impostrip On-Demand Digital software ensures high quality and consistency across print jobs of different lengths and sizes with limited operator intervention, improving the profitability of each job.
The Xerox Business Partner Program has more than 100 leading software and hardware providers that extend the functionality of Xerox products and services and offer new opportunities for digital print providers.
