iPhone Portal Proof of Concept for Rochester Software Associates' WebCRD Offers Web-To-Print-To-Go

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, NY, September 7th, 2007 - Apple's iPhone has captured the imagination of technology users worldwide, and the print industry is no exception.  With the iPhone's touchscreen interface and always-on Internet connectivity, an iPhone could be the ideal interface to order reprints, business cards, check on the status of jobs, and even manage and re-route jobs on-the-fly.
The iPhone promises to display "the real Internet" and it does a good job of that.  But iPhone owners gravitate towards easy-to-navigate sites that are elegant, iPhone-like and "finger friendly".  With this in mind, RSA has developed an iPhone Portal Page proof of concept to demonstrate how end users and print center operators could easily navigate to frequent WebCRD functions, literally at their fingertips!
The iPhone Portal Page proof of concept leverages the powerful, new customization capabilities available for WebCRD 6.2, which is being introduced at Graph Expo in Chicago.  WebCRD delivers a customized Login Page as well as the option of a customized Portal Page.  Through these customization capabilities, a Portal Page can be made to look like any enterprise's Intranet.  But another aspect of this power is the ability to customize the Portal to look like a native iPhone application.
"Print Center Managers are always looking for an extra edge in automation," noted Todd Bernhard, Director of Marketing at RSA.  "They are always trying to deliver more services to their users, with greater ease of use.  WebCRD's Portal Page option is a great way to deliver more value, and the iPhone Portal proof of concept demonstrates how end users as well as operators could easily submit, track, and manage print jobs while mobile.  We created this proof of concept to see what the customer interest is, and demonstrate the extensive customization capabilities of the Portal Page.`"
The customizable Portal Page option is just one of the enhancements available for WebCRD 6.2, which will be demonstrated at Graph Expo, September 9th - 12th, 2007, in Chicago at McCormick Place.  WebCRD 6.2 is available immediately from leading printer equipment vendors.
