Impress Communications Installs its First Two Komori Presses

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, September 12, 2007 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Impress Communications installed its first two Komori presses-an eight-color Lithrone S40 with perfector (LS840P) and double coaters and a six-color Lithrone SX29 (LSX629) with UV capability-in its Chatsworth, CA facility. Founded in 1989, the 40,000 square foot operation is a full-service marketing communications company that prides itself on going beyond the typical commercial printing capacity. Combining creative expertise with technical prowess, the company also provides comprehensive support for marketing solutions, graphic design, new media services, and digital photography to its diverse customer base which includes Nestlé, Arbonne, and Price Pfister. The company's decision to select the new presses was solidified by their ability to achieve excellent print quality on a variety of substrates as well as the high-level automation, quick running speeds, and consistent makeready each press brings to the market-providing another avenue for Impress to differentiate itself in the highly competitive West Coast marketplace.
"The need to upgrade our technology to keep in stride with this competitive region was tangible, which is why we purchased two presses. First, we required a solution that combined high performance with customized features. The initial design of the LS840P was actually constructed out of Legos-we took that model and turned it into a reality to create a press that met our unique specifications," said Paul Marino, president of Impress Communications. "Purchasing the LSX629 is a fundamental part of our company's initiative to redefine our fleet of technology. We view the LSX629 as the 'little brother' of the LS840P. This press lets us accommodate jobs that were previously run on our 40-inch press, adding to our ability to turn around jobs faster. We are excited that it's the first of its kind to be installed in the U.S."
Impress installed the LS840P as part of a broader technology upgrade, driven in part by the relocation to a new, larger facility. With press capability needs that exceeded what was readily available in the marketplace, the LS840P was subsequently built, touting double coaters and the ability to aqueous coat on both sides in one pass-saving significant amounts of time and further supporting the 90 percent of jobs the company receives which require aqueous coating. Impress notes other key benefits include superior image quality, spot-on efficiency, and the ability to tie into its prepress.
The LSX629 rivals larger presses with fast job cycle times and the ability to complete shorter runs and handle a variety of jobs and substrates. Additional benefits of the LSX629 include a more compact footprint, high versatility, and the ability to be fully tied into prepress. Designed to complete the company's well-rounded suite of equipment, the new press further supports Impress' directive to supersede client expectations on every job.
"When a company serves the creative community, as well as a variety of large corporations, time to market is extremely critical. We are pleased the additions of the LS840P and LSX629 have helped Impress streamline operations, add business offerings, and continue to deliver exceptional results," said Paul Peyrebrune, vice president of sales for Komori's Western Region.
