Forum Communications Printing Installs Komori Lithrone S40

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, November 19, 2008 – Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced Forum Communications Printing has installed a six-color, Komori Lithrone S40 press (LS640) with coating capabilities at its state-of-the-art commercial printing facility in Fargo, North Dakota. The company produces a variety of applications for the academic, marketing, and publishing industries. Chosen for its advanced automation, the LS640 is generating reduced makeready time, increasing the company’s capacity, and contributing to Forum Communications Printing’s continuing environmental objectives.

Dave Erstad, Fargo Plant Manager, carefully considered what press capabilities the company’s customers could best utilize when searching for the new press. “We could varnish before the Komori LS640, but we also wanted to do aqueous coating for our customers.” said Erstad. “This feature is ideal for customers producing direct mail and highly visual items. We also wanted an offset press that was fast and easy-to-operate. Komori’s LS640 fit all our objectives.”

Thanks to the LS640’s advanced automation, the company reports a major decrease in makeready time—a job on their previous press that took an hour of makeready now takes a fleeting fifteen minutes on the LS640. With the sheer speed and capability of the press, the team at Forum Communications Printing estimates a return on their investment within two or three years.

Forum Communications Printing has a notable dedication to environmental responsibility—the company is certified by both the Forest Stewardship Council and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Carefully tracking its power usage, waste, and recycling revenue, the company’s Fargo facility has achieved a waste reduction of 40 percent since the installation of the LS640.

“We’re pleased to offer Forum Communications Printing a press that reflects its dedication to supplying its customers with a timely, quality product,” said Mike VanCalbergh, vice president of sales for Komori’s Central West Region. “The LS640 was the right choice for supporting the company’s well-deserved reputation as a remarkably efficient printer.”
