Graphic Arts Studio and Vogue Printers select Speedmaster CD 102 Presses

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga. – August 10, 2007 – Graphic Arts Studio, Barrington, Ill., announces the installation of its second Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 6-color press to support its rapid sales expansion and help the company maintain its competitive edge. The new press joins the company’s all-Heidelberg equipment lineup, which includes an existing Speedmaster CD 102 6-color press, a Speedmaster SM 102 2-color perfector, as well as a POLAR cutter and SBD die cutter.
With the press installation just completed in May, says Vice President Dave Strohfeldt, “We are well positioned to continue providing the high quality production that our customers expect.” Time- and labor-saving features such as InkLine Direct “already have helped tremendously with press efficiencies,” he adds.
Graphic Arts Studio uses the new CD 102 to produce catalogs, annual reports and media guides for customers located primarily in the Chicago metro area. With 55 employees and $12 million in annual sales, the 22-year-old former prepress company has been a Heidelberg customer since expanding into commercial printing 12 years ago.
Graphic Arts Studio President Andy Macchia comments, “The reliability of our production equipment is an important component of our company’s ability to satisfy our customer’s quality and delivery expectations. Heidelberg’s presses, along with their service support, have been a valuable asset to our growth.”
Vogue Printers Scores with Speedmaster CD 102
When Vogue Printers, Waukegan, Ill., replaced an aging press with a new, 5-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 with aqueous coater in March, it planned to use the best technology money could buy to stay competitive and to produce superior products for its customers. Four months later, the busy commercial printer/mailer and its customers have not been disappointed.
According to Vice President and Co-owner Pete DePerte, the new press has given Vogue “the speed we needed on long-run work, together with faster makereadies that enable us to handle short-run work more efficiently. We also get top-flight quality, reliability and consistency from the beginning of a run to the end. It’s like night and day, compared with our old press.”
Intelligent presetting of the press via Prinect Prepress Interface also saves time and labor. “We get up and running more quickly and with less waste,” DePerte adds. Vogue uses the new CD 102 to produce advertising, sales and promotional materials for a loyal client base located in and around Chicago. Established in 1965, Vogue Printers also operates a 2-color 18” Heidelberg GTO, a 1-color 28” KORS and a 5-color 20” Printmaster PM 52. With annual sales volume of $4 million and 20 employees, Vogue relies on Heidelberg to help keep all of its presses running smoothly.
“Heidelberg is a great company to work with. We’ve had no downtime on the new press since it was installed,” DePerte says. “Not only that, but our speeds are up and our quality has vastly improved. Press okays are a walk in the park. Anytime our customers are pleased, we’re happy. Heidelberg has a lot to do with that.”
