HP Indigo Press 5000 Installed at Papergraphics

Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 12, 2008 — HP today announced that Papergraphics, Merrimack, N.H., has adopted HP Indigo digital technology to replace a competing digital press solution, significantly boosting its digital production capabilities and increasing customer satisfaction.  The recent installation of an HP Indigo press 5000 enables Papergraphics, a full service, award-winning print service provider, to offer full-color, digital offset quality for emerging applications such as marketing collateral-on-demand and personalized direct mail, as well as for more traditional print runs.

"Papergraphics is confidently pursuing more opportunities, creating a competitive advantage, and driving profit by offering its customers a new, higher standard in digital color with HP Indigo technology," said Rich Raimondi, vice president and general manager, U.S. Graphic Arts Organization, HP.  "The company has quickly seen how HP Indigo technology gives printers the ability to go after new markets and meet or even surpass customers' quality expectations."

Founded in 1982, Papergraphics built its business by producing marketing communications materials for local corporations, from annual reports and booklets to letterhead and business cards. Originally, the company was printing its digital projects on a competing system, but the performance, speed and quality was inadequate.  The company's previous digital press would often change temperatures based on the weight of the paper stock used, resulting in lengthier turnarounds.

Papergraphics decided to upgrade its digital workflow this year and the HP Indigo made the cut based on its versatility, reliability, speed and excellent print quality.

"The HP Indigo press 5000 has been a terrific investment. The speed and reliability is phenomenal, so I can now handle same day or one day turnaround projects with complete confidence," said Frank Lagana, president, Papergraphics. "All I have to do is put a print sample from the HP Indigo 5000 in my customers' hands and they are blown away with the exceptional print quality."

Recently, one of Papergraphics' clients requested to have her business notecards produced on the company's five-color offset press with a special varnish. Lagana knew that his new HP Indigo could handle the job, but the client was skeptical about the quality of digital print. Lagana decided to send the client a digital print sample of the job printed on the HP Indigo press, a move that elicited praise from the customer for the Papergraphics' new press platform.

The HP Indigo press 5000 is an ideal choice for commercial printers who want unlimited color opportunities, high definition imaging and profitable short runs.  Creating rich, vibrant and sharp color prints at 812 x 812 dpi and up to 812 x 1,624 dpi when printing in high resolution mode, means Papergraphics' clientele can expect the same look and feel as traditional offset and affordable short-run printing for quantities as few as one.
