Pittsburgh, PA, January 25, 2008 — The Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA) announces the release of the conference agenda and the addition of Lambertus Hesselink, PhD. to the list of keynote speakers at this year’s Annual Technical Conference. This year’s conference begins on Sunday, March 16 with a series of keynote speeches “that are deliberately aimed to be out-of-the-box,” according to TAGA’s President, Anthony Stanton. “This is why we are proud to announce the addition of Dr. Lambertus Hesselink.” He will be speaking on his work in the area of holographic data storage, a new information storage and retrieval system that records digital data holographically. Hesselink joins Guy Gecht, CEO of EFI, Hadi Mahabadi, vice president of Xerox, and William Li, head of color technology at Kodak as this year’s keynote speakers. Dr. Hesselink is a professor at Stanford University’s Department of Electrical Engineering. Hesselink’s research encompasses nonlinear optics, optical phase conjunction, optical signal processing and visualization of scientific data sets, optical computing, optical diagnostics, and 3-D digital image processing. Hesselink has been the recipient of numerous awards from scientific and professional societies including the Fullbright scholarship, Stheeman Price, DARPA award, NSIC award, and Fellow of the OSA. The conference will run March 16–19, 2008 at the Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf Hotel in San Francisco, CA. This year’s schedule has a slightly different format than in years past. During the afternoons, there will be an additional track offered of invited speakers who will be presenting tutorials on printing technologies. These concurrent sessions will give attendees additional choices and flexibility in the program. Some of the highlights of this year’s program include two sessions on color management, the InterTech recipient presentations, as well as the Honor Awards Banquet & 60th Anniversary Celebration Gala. The final conference agenda detailing the complete program is now available on-line for attendees to review at www.taga2008.org. TAGA is a leading source of technical research for the graphic communications industry worldwide. The Annual Technical Conference is attended by research professional and academics from several countries around the world representing all aspects of graphic media from electronics and nano-technology to traditional ink and paper applications. The annual proceedings and the peer review journal are widely referenced information sources.
