Press release from the issuing company

04/03/2007 -- In April 2006, the School of Printing and Publishing at London College of Communication joined with the Print Media Academy (PMA) of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) to offer an MA in print media management. The course is designed to give international graduates and experienced workers looking to boost their career a competitive edge as managers in the fast developing world of print media. Prospective students can register now for the next course, which starts in September 2007. The MA course is offered as a full-time program over one academic year. As part of the course, students will spend two separate weeks at the PMA, where they will have the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of new technologies, industry trends and new management techniques. The course combines academic training with contemporary management philosophy through the use of industry visits, international guest speakers, case studies, excursions to print shops, management games, scenario planning, assignments, and a major project. The aim is to equip graduates with the management and strategic skills to enable them to quickly develop into middle/senior managers in the print media industry. Topics covered in the course include organizational behavior, market dynamics, print media technology, business and marketing strategy, financial strategy, and operations strategy. "Students graduating from this course will have the management skills they need to become successful decision-makers in the face of today's and future challenges in the print media industry," comments Bernd Schopp, Head of the Print Media Academy. "As the course curriculum has been developed in consultation with industry, it covers the areas that are of major concern to printers today. It also examines how technology will affect print media markets in the future," explains Sue Pandit, Dean of the School of Printing and Publishing. Registration is now open for the next course starting in September 2007.
