KENNESAW, Ga. - December 5, 2007 -When David McGinnis, founder of Digital Ink, Inc., decided to move his business into an expanded building more than five times larger than its current location, he knew that big changes lay ahead for his company. Instead of going through the hassle of moving equipment across town and setting up in a new location, McGinnis decided to sell everything and start fresh with a suite of new equipment - prepress, postpress and everything in between - from Heidelberg.
Freshly installed at Digital Ink's new location are Heidelberg's Prinect Printready prepress system with Prinect CP2000 Center, Suprasetter A74 and Suprasetter MCL 74 platesetters, 6-color Speedmaster CD 74 with aqueous coater, POLAR 115 X cutter, Stahlfolder B 30 folder, and Stitchmaster ST 90 saddlestitcher.
"We had Heidelberg equipment already, but this upgrade allows us to start fresh with added capacity for our clients' work," McGinnis said. "The Speedmaster CD 74 press, which replaced an earlier model Speedmaster, already has more than 11 million impressions since it was installed this summer."
Digital Ink, Inc. runs the press, which is an F-format - 60.5 x 74 centimeter (23.82 x 29.13 inch), at its full speed of 15,000 sph "24/7." McGinnis started Digital Ink more than seven years ago in Richmond, Va. The company serves high-end commercial print needs for customers along the east coast and handles political print work from around the country.
