Presstek Founder Robert Howard Resigns

Hudson, NH-Presstek, Inc. (Nasdaq:PRST) a leading provider of direct digital imaging technologies to the printing and publishing industry, announced the resignation of Robert Howard from Presstek's Board of Directors, effective today. One of the founders of Presstek, Robert Howard has been a director of the company since September 1987 and was chairman of the board from June 1988 to September 1998. He served as president and treasurer of the company from October 1987 to June 1988. Mr. Howard was the recipient of the 1998 Rochester Institute of Technology Cary Award for his technological innovation, adherence to the highest standard of quality and meaningful advancement of the graphic arts and related industries. He has also received the Albert Einstein Technology Medal from the Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah. Following his resignation from the board, Mr. Howard will provide consulting services to the company when requested for a period of three years on terms similar to his current consulting arrangement with the company. In addition, Mr. Howard has entered into a non-compete, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreement with the company. "Robert Howard's vision to make the printing press a computer peripheral has changed the shape of the printing and graphic arts industries forever", said Richard Williams, chairman of Presstek's board of directors. "In the few short years since Presstek built its first concept press, direct imaging of a printing plate on a press has become widely accepted throughout the industry. An innovator with rare intelligence, Robert Howard's contributions will not be forgotten."
