Komori America Hosts Web-To-Print Educational Seminar

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, April 2, 2007 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, hosted a day-long event on March 21, 2007 at its Rolling Meadows headquarters to demonstrate the capabilities of its S40 Super Perfector offset press in web-to-print applications. Approximately 100 printers and other interested parties from across the U.S. took advantage of the opportunity to learn how to expand products and services in this market segment to increase profits. Expert speakers from Komori America, Graphics Arts Technical Foundation (GATF), as well as key vendors shared the business opportunity leading web-to-print solutions provide. Hands-on demonstrations were a key part of the event. Komori America president and COO, Stephan Carter, opened the event with a corporate summary and explanation of how Komori is positioned to support printers ready to succeed in the growing area of web-to-print services. Carter then turned the floor over to Julie Schaffer, director of GATF’s Center for Imaging Excellence, who provided an in-depth overview of the variety of avenues available in this relatively new market, and the opportunities it offers printers seeking to expand their company’s expertise and print product offerings. The capabilities of Komori’s Lithrone S40 Super Perfector for web-to-print were highlighted. Don Newberry, manager of Komori America’s GraphiCenter, presented an overview of Komori’s 40” two-sided format press and demonstrated its ability to function productively and efficiently in a variety of web-to-print applications. This was followed by an impressive demonstration of the press running in real-time web-to-print production. Recognizing that web-to-print requires specialized software support, several leading-edge software vendors were invited to address attendees on the solutions they offer to implement web-to-print applications. Vendor presenters included: Miro Vejchoda of EFI; Tom Dunning from Pageflex; Shahar Bin-Nun of Press-Sense; and Kristen Anderson, representing XMPie. As the event moved into the lunch hour, these vendors also provided live demonstrations of their products. “Like our customers, Komori recognizes the changes taking place in the print marketplace as high-tech becomes a central part of day-to-day operations,” said Stephan Carter. “All of our presses, and particularly the S40 Super Perfector, provide the intuitive technology required to help printers keep pace with new market demands in order to exceed their clients’ expectations. Every leader in the industry understands that educating its customers is a primary responsibility. We’re happy to be able to provide not only the hardware, but also the overall support to assist printers in expanding the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure continued success in the future.”
