Brown Joins Curtis Packaging

Press release from the issuing company

March 4 2008 - Kerry C. Brown has been appointed Director of Quality at Curtis Packaging Corporation, one of the nation's leading luxury folding carton manufacturers with a state-of-the-art design and production facility in Sandy Hook, Connecticut.

Brown comes to Curtis after serving for over seven years as Director of Quality/ISO 9001 Management Representative at the A&H Manufacturing Company, a Rhode Island-based provider of specialty packaging for the Jewelry and Fashion Accessories industry. There, Brown developed and implemented essential ISO (International Organization of Standards) certification protocols, enacted continuous improvement routines, based on Six Sigma and Kaizan principles, and trained management and production staff in the art and the science of quality in manufacturing and service.

For the previous seven years, he held a similar position at the Elizabeth Webbing Family of Companies Inc. - the world's largest manufacturer of narrow woven fabrics.

"Quality assurance is everyone's job at Curtis Packaging," says Donald R. Droppo, Chairman & CEO. "And as our company grows, we need our quality mindset to expand with it. With his wealth of experience in advancing manufacturing quality, Kerry will lead us in that vital area and make quality an even more integral part of Curtis' corporate culture."

Brown's first order of business is to implement ISO 9001/2000 standards, with focus on raising customer expectations and improving customer satisfaction.  "We need to be seen as a world class manufacturing operation by all of our suppliers and customers," he says. "That will give our customers the confidence that Curtis Packaging Corporation has established sound processes and proper process controls to support their brands with flawless packaging."

Brown acquired his expertise in quality assurance at several academic and corporate venues, including the University of Rhode Island, the University of New Haven, the Eastman Kodak Company, and Perry Johnson. He also has held executive positions on the boards of several professional and community organizations.
