High-Speed Truepress Jet520 At ON DEMAND

Press release from the issuing company

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. Feb 22 2008 -- Creative and production professionals are looking for high-quality alternatives to improve response rates, reduce costs and increase demand for products. The Screen Truepress Jet520 answers those needs by providing full-color short run and variable data printing. In booth #457 at the On Demand Conference and Exposition March 3-6, Screen (USA) will demonstrate the Screen Truepress Jet520 that makes it possible to create on-demand, full-color production printing.

The Truepress Jet520 variable data printing system combines Screen's high-quality prepress technology with the latest color inkjet technology. In addition to printing high-quality variable images and text on each page, the Truepress Jet520 incorporates a roll-fed paper transport system that enables fast, high-volume printing. Varystudio, Screen's variable data software, maximizes the performance of the Truepress Jet520.

Flexibility to handle a variety of printing tasks
The Truepress Jet520 features a printing width of 5.9 inches to 20 inches and paper width of 6.4 inches to 20.4 inches. Its high quality is supported by resolutions of up to 720 dpi x 720 dpi. The Truepress Jet520 prints at the maximum rate of 210 feet per minute, the equivalent of 55,000 impressions per hour.

In response to the diverse needs of the full-color variable printing and print-on-demand industries, the Truepress Jet520 is available in simplex or duplex printing configurations. The single-engine duplex configuration is capable of printing on both sides of the paper (duplex printing) at a maximum roll width of 9.84 inches. Combining two printing units enables the press to duplex print up to a maximum of 20.4 inches.

Highest resolution, precise registration
The Truepress Jet520 boasts the highest resolution of any single-pass inkjet digital printing system -- 720 dpi x 720 dpi. Piezo drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet heads manufactured by Seiko Epson Corp. produce exceptionally smooth gradations. The inkjet heads are mounted in Screen's unique single-pass, multiple-head array. The short distances between the inkjet heads for each color and from the inkjet heads to the media ensure precise color-to-color registration. The Truepress Jet520 uses aqueous-based pigment inks, which are highly water- and light-resistant.

On-demand printing
The Screen Truepress Jet520 is the choice for on-demand production of local magazines, newspapers, small-lot printing, textbooks and transactional printing worldwide. Since it accepts PDF and PostScript data, the Truepress Jet520 fits right into existing printing workflows.

Varystudio variable data software
Varystudio offers flexible page layouts with the ease of desktop publishing operation. Varystudio streamlines transactional printing, direct mail and one-to-one marketing. Other printing applications that benefit from Varystudio's enhanced workflow are manuals, financial reports, personalized materials for education and short-run local newspapers.

Varystudio's imposition functions enable multiple and variable impositions. Varystudio can output variable images and data on each page, as well as vary the layout in a single job.

Also at On Demand: Trueflow SE in Canon Booth
