Apollo Press Streamlines Print Production With Kodak Prinergy Workflow System and Kodak Insite Prepress Portal System

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 26-Working with dealers in the wholesale printing trade means that Apollo Press, Inc., needs to be as flexible and available as possible to these demanding customers-at any time of the day or night.
That's why John Taylor, President and Owner of Apollo Press, completed the purchase of a KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System with KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal System while at Graph Expo in September.
The PRINERGY Workflow System helps create a predictable and reliable process that automates steps, reduces errors and streamlines operations. PRINERGY Systems are modular, open, and scaleable to meet specific market needs and deliver intelligent automation and optimized production management.
The INSITE Prepress Portal System is a powerful Internet portal designed to streamline print production and the processes of job submission, collaboration, proofing, and job status tracking. It reduces turnaround times, helps lower proofing costs, enhances customer communication, and offers exceptional visibility into the production process.
"Our customers work a lot of odd hours and move very fast-in fact, sometimes we receive a job electronically in the morning and have to deliver a run of full color pieces by that evening," said Taylor. "With the PRINERGY and INSITE Systems, our customers can send in their files and see them while they're being preflighted. They can correct mistakes in real time, then we can do a soft proof and the dealers can see it online and approve it at any time they're available. Previously, we could lose two, three, even four days waiting for approval on a proof."
Apollo often takes in high end printing jobs from smaller printers that don't have the facilities in house to do this kind of work.
Taylor was particularly impressed with Kodak's offer to help get Apollo's major customers up to speed on its technology, so the system would have value to these customers immediately.
"We are working with Kodak to provide training to our 10 major accounts," said Taylor. "This is important to the dealers we work with who stay up on the latest technology to service their accounts."
Apollo Press rounds out its digital workflow with a KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution, which delivers complete 4 up, color accurate digital proofs and connects directly to the PRINERGY Workflow System.
Apollo Press generates $6 million annually in sales, with 30 employees at its Newport News, Va., facility. The company's projects range from brochures, sell sheets, booklets, and catalogs to contract printing and advertising specialties. The printer offers perfect and saddle stitch binding, warehousing, inventory management and laser cutting to its customers.
