Agfa Introduces :ApogeeX InkSave, an Integrated and Automated Option for Efficient Ink Use

Press release from the issuing company

Toronto (Graphics Canada - Booth #3412) - November 8, 2007 - Agfa Graphics announced today the introduction of :ApogeeX InkSave, an enhancement option for the :ApogeeX workflow solution. InkSave can save commercial printers between 8-25% of ink costs while guaranteeing 100% colour reproduction.
The InkSave option, designed for effortless workflow integration and ease of use, is built on Agfa technology capable of managing ink weights and alternative separation without affecting the colour of the printed material.
Among the benefits of :ApogeeX InkSave are:
    * Far greater press stability in colour as the neutral colours are more easily balanced;
    * Better compensation of the visual effects of misregistration errors;
    * Shorter drying times and, in turn, faster make-readies;
    * Significant saving on the ink amounts used;
    * No special technical training required to operate.
"As all printers are very much aware, the amount of ink used daily impacts their production cycles and the production costs of printed material. Saving ink is one of the key technological goals of manufacturers and printers alike. With :ApogeeX InkSave, we have taken a giant step in that direction," said Agfa's Deborah Hutcheson, senior marketing manager, Digital Solutions, North America. "Easy to set up and operate, the new option will enable printers to achieve the desired results on press without extra colour management settings or special treatment of files in the design phase. It's all integrated into the workflow."
:ApogeeX InkSave manages the separation of colours based on the selected output profile. It replaces CMYK combinations by colours that appear identical to CMYK but use the colour combinations more efficiently.
