Press release from the issuing company

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. - Screen (USA), a leading supplier of digital printing systems, announced that it will present several models in its Truepress lineup at Print '09 geared toward a wide range of high-quality applications. In booth #6100, Screen (USA) also will showcase the newest version of the Trueflow SE workflow solution, along with members of the industry-leading PlateRite computer-to-plate (CTP) family.

Screen (USA) continues to broaden its portfolio of Truepress solutions, each with a unique configuration and robust production capabilities. Here are some of the highlights in store for print providers looking to expand their business opportunities:

The Truepress Jet2500UV is a remarkably efficient grand-format UV inkjet printing system. It is compatible with substrates and applications ranging from point-of-purchase materials to posters, banners and textiles. It handles rigid substrates and rolled media up to 1.96 inches thick and 98.4 inches wide, with a maximum imaging resolution of 1,500 dpi. At 1,500 dpi, the Truepress Jet2500UV offers the highest imaging resolution in its class.

The Truepress Jet520 is ideal for on-demand production of local magazines, newspapers, small-lot printing, textbooks and transactional printing worldwide. This full-color inkjet web press can print 420 feet per minute, the equivalent of 100,000 8 1/2 x 11-inch impressions per hour. With an imaging resolution of 720 dpi x 720 dpi, the Truepress Jet520 provides the highest resolution of any single-pass inkjet digital printing system. Booth visitors will see full-color book pages and newspapers printed fast and efficiently on the Truepress Jet520.

The four-color Truepress 344 direct imaging press has a maximum sheet size of 13.4 x 18.5 inches and print speed of 7,000 sheets per hour. At top speed, the Truepress 344 can produce a 500-sheet single-sided job from start to finish in less than 15 minutes, with a five-minute makeready.

At Print '09, Screen (USA) will announce new developments in the Truepress lineup designed to bring profitable growth to print-related operations. In addition, the Screen booth will include special presentation kiosks with product videos and print samples for visitors to learn about the Truepress Jet SX and Truepress Jet650UV.

The Truepress Jet SX, which premiered at Drupa 2008, is a sheetfed inkjet press for full-color variable data printing to meet coated and uncoated stock application requirements. The press uses water-based pigment inks to print a maximum 20.8 x 29.1-inch sheet at up to 1,440 dpi x 720 dpi and 1,600 sheets per hour.

The Truepress Jet650UV, Screen's flatbed UV inkjet printer, is a unique new alternative to screen printing and pad printing in graphic manufacturing applications. The Truepress Jet650UV features an unprecedented 2,400 dpi resolution, part-to-part repeatability and print-to-substrate accuracy on plastic film, sheets and board. It has a maximum output area of 25.3 x 23.3 inches and a maximum speed of 201.5 square inches per minute.

Prepress solutions

Screen (USA) will showcase its acclaimed prepress solutions, including the newly developed Trueflow SE ver. 7.0 workflow management system, the PlateRite FX1524 large-format flexo CTP device and the high-speed, high-resolution PlateRite 8800ZX eight-up platesetter.

Trueflow SE ver. 7.0 is the newest generation of Screen's highly automated PDF- and JDF-based workflow management system. It not only improves CTP production through state-of-the-art file processing, trapping and integrated imposition, but is also essential for businesses that operate print-on-demand devices in a hybrid offset/digital workflow.

The PlateRite FX1524 handles flexo plates, letterpress plates and thermal ablative film up to 42 x 60 inches. Its easy-loading mechanism securely mounts large-size flexo plates, increasing prepress efficiency and productivity.

In addition to the top speed of 50 plates per hour, the PlateRite 8800ZX has the flexibility to image a range of smaller plates, plus an option for resolutions high enough for the printing of bonds and other securities.
