Toyo Ink America set to demonstrate at Print '09

Press release from the issuing company

ADDISON, Ill. -- Toyo Ink America, a leading supplier of high-performance printing inks, has selected "The Proof is in the Print" as its theme for Print '09. To emphasize the fact that Toyo Ink products prove their worth in pressrooms every day, the Toyo Ink booth (#4040) will exhibit the widest variety of Toyo products ever assembled at a North American trade show.

Booth visitors will be treated to myriad samples representing the expansive lineup of sheetfed and web offset inks, adhesives and non-ink products that printing companies nationwide have come to rely on.

Of particular interest to printers will be Toyo's LED-UV-Curable Inks. The inks are hard-dried using ultraviolet rays produced by dedicated light emitting diodes (LEDs), enabling stability, long life and reduced power consumption. Showgoers can see the LED-UV-Curable Inks demonstrated on press at the xpedx/Ryobi booth (#1221).

To prove the Toyo Ink value proposition of superior performance and high quality-to-price characteristics, Toyo will unveil its newly developed Value Calculator. The Toyo Value Calculator is a computer application that will allow booth visitors to measure the value they could receive by switching to comparable Toyo inks from their current ink products.

"The direct comparisons to competitive products will be a real eye-opening experience for show attendees," said John Copeland, president/COO of Toyo Ink America. "In pound-for-pound comparisons, we are seeing Toyo inks providing 20 percent to 30 percent more coverage, depending on the specific printing situation. That translates into significant cost savings and exceptional print results for users."

Toyo Ink associates wearing "We'll Prove It!" buttons will be on hand to help booth visitors complete their unique value calculations.

At Print '09, Toyo Ink also will introduce new process series inks for sheeted printing applications. The inks add depth to Toyo Ink's extensive lineup of environmentally friendly formulations while adding value to printing companies' operations.

UV Eco Soy process series debuts
Now commercial sheetfed and folding carton printers have another option to meet the demand for high-quality UV energy-cured printing. Toyo Ink's new soy-based UV inks bring high bottom-line benefits and low environmental impacts to the printing market.

UV Eco Soy inks are formulated for excellent printability and high mileage on a variety of paper substrates, including coated and uncoated paper and board stock. UV Eco Soy inks print consistently with every kind of dampening system. Colors exhibit outstanding brightness. The fast curing readily accommodates high-speed printing and enables faster turnarounds.

UV Eco Soy inks help address the environmental issue and the sustainable development of the printing industry. Made in America from soybeans, UV Eco Soy inks have fractional levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are thus friendlier to the environment.

Alliance Process TIA series to be introduced
A great choice for today's cost-conscious printers, Alliance delivers improved press performance and unbeatable value. Alliance inks are made from vegetable oil. They offer wider water windows, eliminating concerns about ink scumming. These inks set quickly on the printed page, and exhibit good overnight stay open properties.

High-tech products
Toyo Ink's reputation for devising inventive solutions that meet the technology needs of tomorrow drives advances in products for LED and printed electronics applications.

REXALPHA(TM) Series: Electrically conductive silver paste inks that offer improved compatibility with small-lot printed electronics.

LED-UV-Curable Inks: Sheetfed offset inks that enable stability, long life and reduced power consumption through UV irradiation.

LIOMETAL(TM): Silver nanoparticles that enable formation of conductive films quickly at low temperatures.

Expanded-gamut Kaleido Ink(TM)
The Kaleido Ink(TM) family expands the CMYK gamut to nearly the full Adobe RGB gamut. The results are richer, truer-to-life colors than are possible with conventional four-color process inks.

UV Kaleido Ink(TM) contains no VOCs; it is kinder to the environment and the workplace. Other benefits include higher gloss levels.

Sheetfed Kaleido Ink(TM) provides excellent performance for most sheetfed applications.

Aqualess Kaleido Ink(TM) system delivers higher gloss and faster setting times.

Other highlights in store for booth visitors
In addition to Toyo Ink's latest innovations in ink formulation, numerous customer-proven products will make return trade show appearances at Print '09. Toyo Ink will showcase commercial sheetfed inks designed to enhance pressroom productivity and ensure terrific results. Top performers include HyPlus(R) 100 Process Series, a fast-drying sheetfed ink containing 100 percent solids and zero percent petroleum oils. HyPlus(R) EC, Toyo Ink's most popular process ink, provides strong contrast, high density and low dot gain under various screening applications.

Toyo Ink's family of commercial sheetfed specialty inks, energy-curable inks and web press inks also will be on display.

Rounding out the Toyo Ink lineup will be a full complement of versatile non-ink products, ranging from TOYO KING(R) blankets to the TOYO 1050 Color Finder to the Pantone(R) Formula Guide.
