Barry Wilson Named PGSF Educator of the Year

Press release from the issuing company

Pittsburgh, PA -- Barry Wilson, Assistant Professor, School of Technology, University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg, Missouri), has been named the seventh recipient of the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) Educator of the Year Award.  This award recognizes excellence in educational instruction for graphic communication and printing.  The award will be presented at the R&E Council of NAPL Critical Trends Summit and Breakfast Monday, September 14, 2009 during PRINT 09.

"When an educator can reach students and have a positive impact, that is a very real statement of accomplishment," states Ted Ringman, Vice President of Development at PGSF.  "The award is unique in that only PGSF Scholars are invited to nominate educators who have been a strong positive impact in their academic careers.  Assistant Professor Wilson combines his industry experience and strong academic credentials to make learning an exciting challenge for his students."

According to Assistant Professor Wilson, "Education must have a mutually beneficial relationship with industry in order to provide capable graduates meeting the needs of the graphic communication industry.  Financial support of graphic communication programs by the industry and suppliers is requisite for proper applied experiences by students planning to enter the industry."

Two hundred twenty students attending 80 schools receive financial assistance through PGSF.  However, many more of the scholarship applicants are turned down due to lack funds.  For information regarding tax-deductible contributions, establishing a scholarship through PGSF or scholarship applications contact Bernie Eckert, PGSF Program Administrator, at 200 Deer Road, Sewickley, PA. 15143-2600, 412-259-1740, or [email protected]
