OneVision Improves Speedflow Software

Press release from the issuing company

January 15, 2008 - OneVision, a global provider of prepress and premedia software solutions to the printing and publishing industries, announced a collection of new enhancements for its Speedflow software product range for commercial, digital and in-house printers. The four solutions - Speedflow Check, Speedflow Edit, Speedflow Impose and Speedflow Cockpit - work seamlessly together to automate and facilitate prepress processes. Together, the Speedflow product range makes incoming customer files print ready as quickly as possible so that printers can work at maximum capacity.
The new upgrades affect all four Speedflow solutions. These include Speedflow Check, which automatically examines PDF, PostScript and EPS files for errors and then generates a print-ready PDF. Also updated is Speedflow Edit, a software tool that enables full PDF editing of text, images and vector graphics from a user's desktop computer without the need to return to the original file or software application. Enhancements have also been made to the page imposition functions of Speedflow Impose and Speedflow AutoImpose in Speedflow Cockpit, OneVision's tool for comprehensive prepress process automation.
Printers using the Speedflow product range can also benefit from OneVision's newest ink-saving solution. This software tool reduces ink consumption significantly by replacing expensive CMY ink with less expensive black (K) ink without affecting image quality or appearance - and in some cases actually improving the print appearance of full-color jobs. Specifically, Speedflow Check and Speedflow Edit include a new transparency-flattening engine and additional JPEG compression options. The software also supports XMP metadata and the draft version of the PDF/X-4 standard. Additionally, Speedflow Impose now includes automatic checks for marks and labels within the final set trimmed page size. Appropriate marks and labels are tagged with a green icon, and a grey icon alerts the user that further attention is needed. And now, for the first time, Speedflow's full automated imposition functionality can be used within Speedflow Cockpit, making it easier than ever before to fully control the file imposition process.
Siobhain Towell, Vice President of Marketing at OneVision, Inc., said, "Our customers report numerous benefits from using our Speedflow printing and publishing software. The software provides a high level of control and process automation, while offering various and appropriate levels of oversight into numerous aspects of the production process. Many of our customers have noted right from the start that OneVision software saves time, reduces costs and helps ensure that deadlines are met because files print as expected. We continue to listen to the input from our customers, and their feedback is instrumental in developing the latest enhancements to the Speedflow suite."
