Budapest Publisher Chooses QuadTech MultiCam

Press release from the issuing company

Sussex, WI, January 17, 2008 – QuadTech, Inc. today announced that Budapest-based publisher LAPCOM Kft chose the QuadTech Register Guidance System with MultiCam and the QuadTech Ribbon Control System MultiCam, both on the QuadTech ICON platform, for their new 3-tower MAN Roland Uniset web-offset newspaper press.

With an existing production facility in Gyor, in northwestern Hungary, the additional press capacity will allow LAPCOM to increase market share in newspaper and magazine production.  LAPCOM, a subsidiary of British group NorthCliffe Media Limited, which is a division of Daily Mail and General Trust plc (DMGT), will install these products at their production facility in Szeged, Hungary in March 2008.

Both QuadTech products use MultiCam which offers a number of benefits over comparable systems.  The MultiCam has one of the smallest circumferential or lateral whitespace requirements in the industry and is one of the fastest in searching and tracking register marks (30 times per second).  Further, the MultiCam has a compact size for register and ribbon applications, and is offered with motorized and non-motorized bars and system options like anti-embossing, ink guiding and automatic phasing.

The state-of-art QuadTech ICON platform makes it easy to maintain control over all systems through a single user-friendly interface.  The ICON platform allows for remote diagnostics and remote parameter adjustment over a high-speed internet connection and is compatible with the optional QuadTech Data Central Performance Reporting Module and Data Central Automated Job Setup Module both of which can bring increased efficiency and profitability to the press room.

“QuadTech continually invests in breakthrough technology to further improve the quality, cost and immediacy of ink on paper so that printers are able to increase quality, decrease waste and shorten makeready times,” said Karl Fritchen, President of QuadTech.  “We strive to provide dependable, local customer support around the clock.”
