ABOX Packaging: Speed, Flexibility, and New Business Opportunities Key Drivers in Choosing Komori LS640

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, August 22, 2007—Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced ABOX Packaging, a custom manufacturer of folding cartons for Fortune 500 companies, has recently installed a six-color Lithrone S40 (LS640) with coater and UV capabilities at its Texas facility. ABOX chose the LS640 for its speed, exceptional print quality, and versatility when it comes to accepting different weight substrates. The ABOX client list includes such impressive enterprises as Nestlé, Kimberly-Clark and ACCO Brands, all requiring a high-quality printed box. Since installing the press, ABOX reports the extremely fast makeready capabilities of the LS640 is reducing makeready times by 50 percent and reducing waste during makeready by up to 40 percent.
"This press is amazing. It gets us up to color in one-third of the time and allows us to accept up to 40 pt. board, which is opening up new markets for us," said Keith Thompson, CEO of ABOX Packaging. "I have worked with Komori for over 15 years and knew they produced a quality machine. This is an outstanding press. It is delivering just what we expected. In fact, I am so pleased, I have just signed a contract for another 8-color Komori press."
ABOX Packaging is taking full advantage of the extensive built-in automation, accurate consistent color, and high run speeds, resulting in faster turnaround time. The value-added UV print capabilities makes it possible to provide more creative options for the packaging the company produces, speed drying time and can be used as a cost-effective substitute for film lamination.
"ABOX Packaging has experienced tremendous growth over the past several years," said Mike VanCalbergh, vice president of sales for Komori’s Midwest Region. "We are happy the Lithrone S40 is delivering the versatility and flexibility necessary to support the professional-looking packaging the company produces for its impressive client list. We look forward to our continued partnership."
