Procemex Joins PrintCity

Press release from the issuing company

Augsburg, Germany, May 24, 2007 – PrintCity welcomes new member Procemex, a leading supplier of camera based web monitoring & web inspection systems to the alliance and its publishing, commercial & web activities. Procemex is a machine vision company based in Jyväskylä, Finland, and since 1990 the same core team has been continuously providing leading edge image processing innovations for troubleshooting paper related processes. This technology is today also being used by many of the leading web offset and gravure printers in Europe. Procemex is a specialist in filming and analyzing web breaks, web defects and in general printing press runnability problems. It helps its customers solve printing press efficiency concerns relating to paper, process and machinery. This is done by combining innovative camera based technology, both for improving printing press efficiency and inspecting paper quality. This unique capability is a valuable strength helping Procemex to expand its activities in the world of printing in 2007 & 2008. According to Mika Valkonen, Managing Director of Procemex, the reasons for joining PrintCity in 2007 are, “We have expanded our activities 3-4 years ago from paper into printing and see that there is need for deeper understanding of the root causes of gravure and web offset printing problems. “One of the reasons for joining PrintCity is to gain more experience in the whole printing process. What could be a better environment to deepen, and in return, to share your knowledge, than this type of cooperation with the experts in all key areas of printing”, concludes Valkonen. Rainer Kuhn, PrintCity managing director, welcomes Procemex into the ‘connection of competence’ alliance by commenting, “The strength of the PrintCity alliance is the wide range of companies, technologies and capabilities working together. Procemex will have a very important contribution to our connection of competence work and I am sure that they will involve themselves in PrintCity projects and activities. We welcome Procemex and encourage other similar companies to discuss with PrintCity how the alliance can help them”. Procemex has confirmed that it will participate at drupa 2008 within PrintCity in hall 6. More information can be found about Procemex at www.procemex.com
