Grover Cleveland Press Installs First Komori Press

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, March 20, 2007—Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced Grover Cleveland Press of Amherst, NY, a 59-year old high-end commercial printer, recently installed a five-color Lithrone 28 (NL528) with coater. Looking to acquire a higher-performance press to continue to expand its capabilities, the company chose the NL528 for its superior level of efficiency, automation and versatility. Key drivers in purchasing the press included its quick turnaround times due to its versatile in-line coating systems, value-added productivity and impressive automation the company required to produce its high quality, short run commercial applications that range from eight to twelve page high-end, short run books, to brochures and postcards. This is the first Komori press for Grover Cleveland, which began its business in 1947 in the basement of 14-year-old high school student Jim Degen’s parent’s house. Grover Cleveland Press has since experienced great growth, with the business now run by second generation sons, Mike and Tom Degen. Grover Cleveland’s diverse clientele, including universities, advertising agencies and automobile manufacturers benefit from the high quality output, and ability to turn jobs around fast. The company attributed advanced performance in part to the outstanding labor-saving benefits of having a PDC-S Spectrophotometer. This feature has enabled Grover Cleveland to digitally control densities and color matching, facilitating the streamlined management and printing standardization needed. “Having this press has allowed us to run jobs we were previously unable to do,” said Mike Degen, president of Grover Cleveland Press. “The makeready is definitely faster, and our press operators are very pleased with the outstanding ease of use the NL528 provides. Specifically, having the addition of the color Spectrophotometer tied into the prepress means we can send digital information right to the press—so we start out ahead of the game.” “We are very pleased to begin this valuable partnership with Grover Cleveland Press,” said Ken Sabol, Peyrebrune, vice president of sales for Komori’s Eastern Region. “Komori presses provide a host of features designed to provide fast turnaround time, as well as exemplary results. We very proud Grover Cleveland has found the NL528 adds great value to their operation.”
