Evergreen Printing & Publishing increases running speeds 75+% with Muller Martini inserting technology

Press release from the issuing company

Bellmawr, New Jersey – Evergreen Printing & Publishing recently completed Phase-1 of an upgrade project in its post-press department, installing a polybag machine, a Muller Martini 13,000 c/hr. BravoPlus saddle stitcher with AMRYS (Automatic Make-Ready System), and a Muller Martini AlphaLiner inserting system that can process 15,000 copies per hour. The resulting boost in productivity at Evergreen has been very impressive. “After the addition of two new presses, we needed to upgrade our post-press capabilities with automated high-speed equipment,” says Tom Meyer, Process Control Manager, of Evergreen, a commercial printer that employs more than 200 people and runs numerous daily, weekly and monthly publications both heatset and cold. “The AlphaLiner has become the operator’s machine of choice on inserting jobs. We have increased our running speeds by over 75% on the machine this replaced.” Aside from the productivity gains that Evergreen Printing & Publishing has received since installing its Muller Martini machines, Evergreen has also gained peace of mind through a high level of confidence in Muller technology overall. “Our experience with, and the flexibility of Muller Martini equipment, was a driving factor in choosing Muller,” continues Mr. Meyer. Complementing its running speed, the Muller Martini AlphaLiner inserting system also offers extensive versatility as well as superior production reliability. AlphaLiner is the only inserting machine capable of handling inserts that are larger than the main jacket. Up to 30 products can be inserted and for even more production flexibility, AlphaLiner can be loaded by hand, semi-automatically using streamfeeders, or automatically with FlexiRoll. AlphaLiner allows automatic addressing of the main jacket of mailings, providing for address-specific inserting with subsequent copy-specific bundle building. A Promo feeder station can be added to increase the range of products that can be inserted. The inkjet module integrated into the AlphaLiner inserting system enables in-line labeling of mailing covers or main sections on 1 or 2 sides, making it fast and cost-efficient to customize mailings with such information as personalized messages and special promotional offers. The user-friendly Muller Martini BravoPlus saddle stitcher provides a level of automation that is unmatched in the mid-range performance class. BravoPlus delivers maximum uptime and exceptional net output. When equipped with AMRYS technology, BravoPlus offers convenient and highly efficient computer-aided make-ready and changeover, enabling fast set-ups and allowing the machine to be customized in moments to meet changing job requirements. Other key BravoPlus features include variable feeding with a choice of feeder options (flat pile feeder, vertical pile feeder, stream feeder, card and cover folder feeder, and merchandise and card gluers). Top-quality production on the BravoPlus is also closely controlled through selectable options that include: copy control, ASIR (optical automatic signature image recognition), lateral thickness measurement by side caliper, oblique sheet monitor, thickness measurement by ridge caliper, stitch monitor, trim monitor, and sequential on/off.
