PIA/GATF Seminar Takes to the Road Again

Press release from the issuing company

Sewickley, PA, February 7, 2007 -- PIA/GATF will be taking its Mission:Possible seminar back on the road this spring to help designers and printers learn what they can do together to make the production process more efficient. Mission:Possible—A Mutual Strategy for Creatives and Printers addresses the issues between creative and prepress teams that can result in frustration and unsatisfactory performance. The seminars cover everything from design considerations for print and color communication to soft proofing. The eight-city tour starts May 22 in Charlotte, and continues to Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver, Seattle, Vancouver, and New York, ending on June 28 in Atlanta. Information on dates and meeting sites is available at www.missionpossible07.com. Based on last year’s success, PIA/GATF expects to reach over 300 people. Adobe Systems, Appleton Coated, Eastman Kodak, and Sun Chemical are gold sponsors; Quark and ICS are silver sponsors. “Every day, jobs are delayed due to files that cannot be output exactly as delivered,” said James Workman, Vice President, Training, PIA/GATF. “These delays result in cost overruns, additional proofing rounds—which drive up expense and timelines—and ultimately customers who are unsatisfied with the final printed piece. Strengthening collaboration between creatives and printers is essential in today’s marketplace.” Content for the full-day event tackles every issue that printers and designers single out as problem spots, such as file submission, press-ready PDF files, image resolution and compression, preflighting, converting images, transparency, proofing, and a number of other topics. “These are the issues that we find designers clamoring to know about and printers unsure of what instruction is needed,” says Tracey Ryan, PIA/GATF Art Director and seminar co-instructor. “This event brings these two groups together and helps open the lines of communication.” For more information, visit the seminar website at www.missionpossible07.com or call 800-910-4283, ext. 711. The seminar book, Mission:Possible—Secrets Revealed, is available for purchase separately at the above website.
