TrendWatch - Internet Job Tracking Not A Slam Dunk

Press release from the issuing company

According to TrendWatch, 40% of print businesses say they have no plans to allow customers to track jobs via the Internet -- now or in the future. Letting customers "see their jobs inside the plant" is not seen as a benefit by commercial printers and trade shops. And yet, many print buyers and creative shop traffic managers want the type of "click and see" Internet job tracking services that can quickly provide the information they need. Why should you care?... It depends... on who you are as to how this affects you. For dot-com's that can get printers and creative shops together on this issue, there is a real win-win in these numbers. For many printers, however, this idea may just feel like more dubious changes in tracking and information systems. For creative shops, this could be a real time saver when buying printing (which our data says is on more than 60% of their jobs!).
