DCG: Digital Color Graphics Invests in EFI Technology to Update Infrastructure

Press release from the issuing company

Indianapolis -- DCG: Digital Color Graphics has been unique to Indianapolis since it was founded in 1994, incorporating the latest technology well ahead of industry trends. Beginning in December, DCG will, once again, show that their business goes beyond print with the introduction of DCG: FAST (Fulfillment and Automated Sales Team) web-to-print services powered by EFI PrinterSite Exchange. As part of a continuing partnership with international printing technology leader EFI (Electronics For Imaging), DCG: Digital Color Graphics has invested in a full-scale overhaul of their software, implementing EFI Logic™ management information system along with an online component – PrinterSite Exchange – designed to increase customer access to DCG’s printing capabilities. More than $100k will be spent on software development and upgrades. “This investment in Logic and PrinterSite Exchange will allow DCG an outlet for growth that we haven’t yet been able to experience,” said Chris Hutson, President of DCG. “With DCG: FAST, customers can log in from their desktops, choose paper types, designate turn-around times, view PDF proofs, and upload and edit their printing files. It is going to change the printing industry, and more importantly, make it easier for customers to do business with us.” The PrinterSite Exchange upgrade enables DCG to provide a new tier of services, delivering customized printing and marketing support services seamlessly and with greater efficiency to match the capricious, on-demand environment of the business world. And DCG is no stranger to the changes in the mercurial printing industry. DCG recently moved to a larger facility in the Trade-Free zone near the Indianapolis International Airport in order to position the company to grow with the changes ahead. This move came as part of a larger change: DCG went completely digital in its printing solutions, purchasing the Xerox iGen3 110 Printing Engine powered by a Fiery Q5000, and selling its traditional film output device. This change to all-digital is a remarkable transition, reflecting a perceived future of shorter printing runs and digital personalization – a future that industry experts have been predicting, as the amount of work done on digital presses has continued to increase over the last decade. Rob McBride, Vice President and General Manager of DCG, sees the digital trend continuing to change the role of printers: “As the operations side of printing becomes more closely married to the marketing side of business, DCG is prepared for the escalated demand for customized pieces, such as mailers, postcards, posters, and presentation pieces,” McBride said. About DCG DCG: Digital Color Graphics goes beyond print, focusing on the revenue side of business. Specializing in 1-to-1 Marketing, DCG offers a full range of marketing support services, from mailings and brochures to business cards to banners and signs. DCG is located just off the Airport Expressway at 2629 Rand Road, Indianapolis, IN 46241.
