Xerox to Distribute Credit Card Payment Device for Document Centre Digital Systems

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) and USA Technologies, Inc. (OTC.BB: USTT) are teaming up to make copies, prints and faxes available at the swipe of a credit or debit card. A new solution, aimed at walk-up users at places like hotel business centers, retail stores, airports and bus stations, equips Xerox Document Centre digital multifunction machines with USA Technologies' patented TransActÆ credit card payment device. Xerox, which will resell and distribute the TransAct device, is the first company in the industry to offer this service in response to growing demand for around-the-clock access to document services. The new capability supports Xerox's continuing focus on delivering specialized solutions tailored to the needs of key industries such as hospitality, transportation, retail and other segments. "As credit and debit cards become more pervasive in today's economy, and the need for instant, around-the-clock services grow, the addition of TransAct strengthens our current offerings," said Harvey Huddleston, vice president and general manager, Xerox Alliance and Partnership Management. "Another plus is TransAct's applicability. It is suitable for many customers in the transportation, hospitality, retail and public sector industries." "This is a win-win business relationship," said George Jensen, chairman and chief executive officer, USA Technologies. "We are able to provide Xerox with our credit card technology, which extends its product offerings, and in turn, we expand our distribution of TransAct throughout the Xerox sales network." Additionally, USA Technologies has become a Xerox value-added reseller and will incorporate Xerox equipment into its Business ExpressÆ program - around-the-clock, self-service, credit card-activated business centers located in hotels nationwide. With patented technology and a rapidly expanding product line, USA Technologies is a leader in providing credit card-activated business services for professionals and consumers needing to communicate or conduct business outside the home or workplace. The Xerox solution is available in the United States and Canada. The list price for the TransAct terminal is $2,195. Xerox products that can be configured with the TransAct terminal include the Document Centre 420, DC432, and DC470, all of which can print, copy, fax and scan. Product prices vary and are available at www.xerox.com.
